Sire’s 2024 Electric Guitar Lineup - Featuring Larry Carlton

there are some very good inexpensive guitars out there, from many brands.

unless you need certain names on the headstock of course.

that said, I think Sire overuses Larry Carton's name...they seem to use it on many models, and same for Marcus Miller for bass.

I agree. I'm in my 60's and I wish there had been guitars like the ones we can get nowadays for next to nothing. Those Firefly reliced Strats have been calling to me...I could swap in a set of Duncan stacks sitting on a shelf in my music room...good times.

Having said that, before I start buying gear, even cheap gear, I'm going to wait a while and see how things play now that the election is behind us.
Total buyer's market right now. Even so, we're being cautious with spending just in case things go sideways.

I get your point about overusing their names, but their names are legit calling cards. My marketing days are over, so I'll let Sire sort that out. LOL

So many great deals on used stuff too, if you know what to look for. I've got an Ibanez semi-hollowbody, a Yamaha superstrat and an 80's Kramer superstrat, but the name doesn't matter to me, only the performance does.
The Ibanez was a gift from my buddy's widow, the Yamaha and the Kramer I got so cheap it's ridiculous considering the stellar quality of those instruments.

I recently rolled the dice on a new-in-the-factory-box Gibson '61 SG Standard - my second new Gibson, my first was a new '78 LP Custom when I was a kid.

It's very good, I can't find any issues; QC was on point for this guitar. And, MF is offering 15% off.

That said, I really wanted the '63 Gibson SG Custom, but not at the $6K asking price...turns out Epiphone makes one, part of their inspired by series. CTS handwired pots, ebony fretboard, real MOP inlays, 3 x Gibson custombuckers, Maestro Vibrola, ABR-1 bridge, Grover tuners,...it's pricey for an Epiphone, but with 15% off it was too much to resist.

While I have a few expensive guitars (EBMM, Ibanez Prestige), many of my guitars are around or under $1K new, and I only buy when I can get 15% off., new in factory sealed box, and I get MF points too, which I use on the more expensive guitars. These guitars are very good IMO

Congrats! Can't beat those kind of deals. You happy with the sounds you're getting out of them?

They make a solid product for the cost.

But I can't help but laugh at his endorsement of them, when he spent his career playing stuff no one could afford.
