Tariffs exist to promote domestic production, whether they’ll work is yet to be seen.
China’s answer to those tariffs was what China sent the US after they recieved hundreds of millions in goods from the US..
-They sent out the Corona virus, AND clsimed the Mother Nature clause in the contract allowing them to keep ALL the goods and not have to pay a penny..
Right when T-Rump starting enforcing these tariffs
Get ready for anything from China to skyrocket and the “dismantling effect” to be motion.
Unfortunately, we are not match for the CCP.
I’ll just keep working and pay attention to what’s right in front of me.

“The world” is the general name for all the passions. When we wish to call the passions by a common name, we call them the world. But when we wish to distinguish them by their special names, we call them passions. The passions are the following: love of riches, desire for possessions, bodily pleasure from which comes sexual passion, love of honor which gives rise to envy, lust for power, arrogance and pride of position, the craving to adorn oneself with luxurious clothes and vain ornaments, the itch for human glory which is a source of rancor and resentment, and physical fear. Where these passions cease to be active, there the world is dead…. Someone has said of the Saints that while alive they were dead; for though living in the flesh, they did not live for the flesh. See for which of these passions you are alive. Then you will know how far you are alive to the world, and how far you are dead to it.”

See for which of these passions you are alive. Then you will know how far you are alive to the world, and how far you are dead to it.”

That war and the sanctions will probably end soon which also will hopefully mean cheap steel case x39 again too.

Plus we have Slovakia....
The US's support for the war will end but the war itself is not going to end. That only ends in one of three ways, Ukraine continues fighting, they give up the land they have lost or complete surrender.

Now all Russian sanctions, yes that'll end almost immediately from the US, so in terms of tubes, it'll be a interesting measuring stick to see if prices fall for Russian made tubes. Normal dictates of supply and demand indicate they should but it's a dying market and it hasn't stopped tube fanatics from continuing to buy, even with high prices. So it'll be interesting to see how it affects essentially what is a boutique industry which often justify' s higher prices.

Now China, that's a different story especially in regards to tariffs. Tariffs nearly destroyed American Farmers under his first administration, in turn he had to bail them out so the Tariff's were essentially a wash. But yeah I'd say if you like Chinese made tubes or gear, stock up now. Which may push me to get that 1992 6505 Reissue.

Why not amend the constitution and make export tarrifs instead?

I do agree that these import tarrifs don't seem great but we could also stop buying dumb things from Temu and survive just fine.

What I'm most interested in about this article is how would import tarrifs create job loss?

Edit: Also im curious how this nearly destroyed the farming industry? You'd think tarrifs would promote home grown goods and help the farmers thrive.

Here you go...https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2020/01/21/trump-tariff-aid-to-farmers-cost-more-than-us-nuclear-forces/

Dozens more articles out there from various publications for those who "question" everything. The money spent bailing them isn't debatable. It's why there has been pushback from economist on Tariffs but it's fallen on deaf ears.

Yeah, so the plan essentially backfires.

The US restricts export tarrifs but China sure does not.

I'm nowhere near smart enough to solve this ongoing issue but you'd think we would start utilizing export tarrifs instead of import.

Yep. No clue on the later as well.

Btw/ for the lurkers, I'm not taking sides here, facts are not politics they are facts. I'll say this, I got drug into Hobby Lobby (who source alot from China) yesterday by the wife and it looked like a damn fire sale. Had the displeasure of having to go there many times and I've never seen the amount of people and buggies stacked overflowing. I told my wife, screw this I'll sit in the car.
