Very clean Friedman Phil X with GZ circuit mods. Makes the amp more aggressive, with more clarity and punch. It has an extremely wide range of gain. Cleans up fantastic with guitar volume, and can get downright nasty with SAT engaged.
I have been torn on keeping this since it sounds so damn good. But I just have too many amps around right now.
In addition to the circuit mods, the amp has NFB and depth controls on back. As well as an on/off SAT switch.
As most GZ amps are known for, the diodes are not full in circuit, but partially dialed back. So it maintains bite and clarity with added saturation.
The gain cut switch was changed to the “Gain Structure” type setup and functions in a much more useful manner, in my opinion.
All coupling caps were updated to brand new Synergy, replacing the Mallory 150’s that were in it. Several Silver Mica capacitors were also changed for Vishay 562 series. So it’s got all the current type components used in brand new Friedmans.
The head shell has been blacked out with new black piping, knobs have been changed to black, black power switch and toggle switch washers as well. Even a black input jack nut. Just a killer looking amp.
$2550 shipped. This will ship in a brand new Friedman box with foam corners.
