DING! New old guitar day! Yamaha sg700

MURDERATOR
Alund hooked me up with this killer beast. Late 70’s early 80’s yammy sg700. Was shocked by the weight…surprisingly heavy. It also has a set of dimarzio schb’s wound by Larry dimarzio himself. They are coil tapped btw. This is my second guitar with those pups and they are pretty damn nice pups. This thing plays like butter and it sounds great too. I didn’t realize till I just now did a restring and setup that I had been playing it in single coil mode. I’m going to plug it up in a little bit and see what it sounds like in humbucker mode. Also has a titanium or stainless nut also. These and the Ibanez artists have been called les Paul killers and I can definitely understand why. Everything feels solid and the tuners are great. Just a very good well built guitar. Thick maple top, mahogany body and neck. Rosewood board. Bound body, neck and headstock…. Plain top but a nice cherry burst. As long as I can get ahold of an instrument like this I will never buy a Gibson. And I was a diehard Gibson snob for years. Fuck Gibson. Anyway-here it is-

looks like something @VonBonfire was looking for...except the color.

Congrats & HNGD!
It was jack booted thug who prompted the GAS for a thicker than SG but still SG shaped guitar. So I been looking at these Yamaha's, the ESP/LTD Viper, and of course maybe one of those rare Robin Artisans. Thinking about a move next year so I might delay the gratification and spend some real coin then. We'll see....

@JackBootedThug I'm filing away those pickups you mentioned that are in your guitar for a place and time. They seem like a good, promising option and they are reasonably priced used. Loving that guitar brother. Look at that rosewood....DARK LIKE EBONY. What a sweet axe bro. It's good you got something to brighten your day with. Enjoy in peace and health.
