Is my setup stereo or technically dual mono?

I use two Orange Super Crush 100 combos. For one amp, I have my effects going into the send and return. On the second amp, the 2nd "out" on my stereo reverb goes into the return jack of the 2nd amp.

Is this a stereo setup or technically just dual mono because my sound from Amp 1 is just going into the power section of Amp 2?

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to avoid any phase issues. It was my impression that I'm just running the same tone into another speaker basically. I thought if I was going into the input jack of the second amp, that would be stereo because I'm using both preamp and power sections on the amps and that could cause issues.

It’s dual mono, this is why you need a mimiq pedal
I knew ypu were going to say that. So what is that going to do that my sound isn't already doing? I have the sounds going thru my stereo pedals and getting the ping pong delays, etc. Why would I need el' Mimiq?

heres what it does, this is two amps panned left and right as i id assume you have one combo on each side of the drums, the first part is with the mimiq off and what would be your mono signal, the second part with the mimiq on you can hear how it "mimiqs" one of the signals as if you were double tracking and you get a stereo spread.

Technically there is no difference between dual mono and stereo. Some people might tell you the distinction is that a stereo setup uses a single volume knob to control both channels, but I think that’s incidental.

If you are only using one preamp from one amp at a time into both amps, you’re not going to have phasing issues. Phasing issues pretty much only occur when you blend two amps or preamps and one uses an even number of gain stages while the other uses an odd number of gain stages. Since it sounds like you’re only using one preamp at a time, you should be fine, considering both amps use the same power amp and therefore the same number of gain stages in the power amp.

Alternatively, if you do decide to run both your preamps at the same time, since you have two of the same amp, as long as you keep both amps on the same channel/mode at the same time, you’ll be fine.

If you ABY into the front of both amps for a true stereo, you won't get any phasing issues because they are the same amp. Phasing issues are pretty "yes" or "no" with stereo rigs, and a phase switch on an ABY can fix it. With a Mimiq and a split signal into two amps, it sounds huge. I'm running a stereo rig like that.

So a question for you and RaceU4her. If you guys are using stereo effects, how do you get that stereo with those effects? Only one amp can have the send and return so was curious how you get the second stereo signal to the amp?

I send both amps back to my Fractal FX8 that is setup true stereo. That way each side gets its own effects. You can do this with some delay and reverb pedals that have stereo inputs. Just run both sends to a pedal and both outs back. The only issue you might have there is ground loops, which you can fix with cables or something with a ground lift.

What do you think of the sound/feel transparency? I think you sold me on trying one of these. ?

you should, i been preaching about this thing for years if you have multiple rigs, its like jamming with yourself as the second guitar player when you step on it, i would have killed for one of these back in the day when i was the only guitar player in my band. its tough to describe till you try it. beware if you watch demos though cause everyone has a different way they use this thing which to me are just kind of confusing, and get the full size one. i just use it like a A/B box on 1 dub with each output going to an amp and thats it. it works great for recording too

It sounds like you are doing what I would do. Send of Amp A to the input of your effects, and then Out A of the effects to Return of Amp A, and Out B to the Return of Amp B.

I think if you are using stereo effects, such as Chorus, Ping Pong or Panned Delays, or a Stereo Reverb, that would be considered stereo. Basically anything where the Left side is not identical to the right side.

Mimiq didn’t work for me. It actually added noise. I bought a 12 dollar pyle hum eliminator that instantly solved my ground loop issues. It’s two channels and totally passive. I also never used an aby pedal till this week to go wdw. Before I was 7 cable method slaving one amp into the other with my ms3 for all my “effects “…. Whammy, wah, and all my boosts are first in line from my guitar. Ns2 after my last boost and then running the built in noise suppression in the ms3 for the amps loops. Between Wayne’s boosts and running stereo I no longer have erectile dysfunction…plus it also acts as Spanish fly for the wife…wish I could bottle that shit….

how did it not work though?? ola uses it here the same way i do and it sounds killer, i guess you can use the mini one the same way

It worked but it added some noise. Been so long since I had it I can’t really remember. It just didn’t do what I wanted it to, or give me the sound that I envisioned it would…. That is probably the more appropriate answer….

Yep that is what I'm doing. If I was wasn't using external effects, I could just go into the front inputs.

I grabbed a used one on Reverb. Didn't go with a mini since I don't have an A/B/Y. I have pretty good isolated power supplies, so hoping I don't run into any ground loop/noise issues. Did the cabs need some distance to avoid phasing? I think that might be my only issue because of the room I'm using. I converted a room into an isolation booth, but I'm running out of space.

You just notice the stereo effect better spread apart, but like Ola in the video just uses a stack and it sounds sweet too, I’ve never had noise or phase issues like other people talk about. And you can hear what it does in my clip when recording, makes testing blending amps or quad tracking pretty easy

The HAAS effect needs to be understood. It is fundamental understanding.

pedal is a lot of fun. I assumed I could be sloppy and it would sound good. Uh uh. For my tastes, gotta be tight with everything you play, and then it starts to shine. Diggin it so far, but making me realize how sloppy I am.
