Eddie Van Halen - I'm the one (Isolated guitar) FULL SONG

honestly, this forum has made it impossible for me to enjoy van halen anymore :dunno: i cant listen without thinking about things like what would RT'ers pay for a shit stained pair of Eddies underwear theyd sniff and put on while butchering "aint talking bout love" in their living room among many other disturbing scenarios id rather not envision. kind of a bummer really
I didn’t like them that much before I knew about this forum and enjoyed them less since lol. I do though like this song a lot minus the annoying wank style lead work

It just wasnt my era. The hero worship and still chasing a tone from another dude who later didn't even like that sound is just fucking strange to me. It's just not for me to get I suppose. I mean, Eddie was a killer guitar player no doubt but, give me a fucking break.

It’s all about emotions . And he brings it . Obviously as a guitar teacher I can shred .But that does not stop me from enjoying say Kurt cobains solos . They sucked but I def felt his soul through them

for me it’s very educating to get a feel of frequencies that work and those that don’t but are ok to keep when working with that type of amp, ie a gained up Marshall or derivative.
I do the same with drums as I learn how to mix.

“It’s all about emotions” is exactly why I don’t like that leadwork. Even EVH or the most soulful players ever can’t disguise the wanky, noodly gobbly gook nature of those solos into sounding like music or evoking real emotional depth. It needs to be a complete enough package where the compositional nature is also adequate enough (not just the playing) to get there imo. Cobain’s solos are at the complete other end of the spectrum. Neither guys were gifted at composing tasteful leadwork, but of course had amazing riffs and songs minus the solos lol. One guy was about playing a lot notes that didn’t that didn’t all count and the other sparse, but still not that memorable. Not everyone can be Randy or Marty sadly or Gilmour for sparser leads

Don't give other people that much power over yourself.

Now excuse me while I go figure out which amp I'm gonna go play out of a roomful of amps I wouldn't otherwise have bought if not for guitar forums.

when i first started learning this song and to a lesser extent hot for teacher, i always flashed back to my parents listening to this tune due to the cadence of the rhythm

Hot For Teacher always reminded me of this (starting at 0m19s):

And the spin-off from Eek, The Terrible Thunderlizards definitely listened to a certain AIC song... :censored: :p

The Schlitz Malt Liquor Schwing….good tune even with the nonsense licks.

which one of these was it?? gonna try and find it
