How many of you are Strat guys?

Not really looking for Modern, but more Classic/Vintage with some attitude. It'll like be something with a pickup swap.

How many of you are Strat guys?

I'm in the market for a Strat that covers a lot of ground, including metal. HSS configuration would be ideal, but I don't know much about their humbuckers, or the gazillion models. I had a really nice 60's JV Modified made in Japan that was SSS, and it didn't cut it, from a pickup standpoint...

    Peavey 5150- Effect Loop Trouble

This. First, and foremost. I had 2 old 5150's that both had similar issues, and they are notorious for needing the jacks cleaned periodically. Deoxit, spray in there, and the tip of a cable, and pop it in and out multiple times, rinse, repeat.

Best replacement for a Floyd 1000?

I agree. I'll take a Gotoh any day. The 1000 series is so inconsistent, it's not even funny. You MIGHT get one that works smoothly, and another that has fine tuners with only half the travel and they lock up, some you can't turn, (even after lubing them up), arms that fit sloppy and click, or...

    high output humbuckers?

I'm baffled when people call JB's harsh. I've owned literally dozens of guitars with JB's, and I always found them tubby and round. Great lead pickup, but not my favorite for rhythm. I discovered a somewhat under the radar pickup that came in a Charvel I bought used. The original owner put SD...

Yep. Loved him in Nevermore most, he's a beast for sure. Don't think he ever fit in Arch Enemy, but it was a paycheck I guess.

    Exodus ‘89

Last Act has always been in my top 5 favorite Exodus songs. And I have their entire catalog. Vocals are kinda weak though. Lots of killer songs on it though.

    So, Epiphone...

The white Custom is pretty sweet looking. With USA pickups, it's not a bad deal, especially on the used market. I'd probably upgrade the hardware, but I do that to USA's too. I was just always leery of fretwork from China. Seems like they're doing something right.
