Engl Fireball 100 is easily their best amp - Change My Mind

Where’s Larry when we need him? I’d like to hear his opinion on the high quality/small transformer thing.

Dreading the thumbnail already. At least we know from the open mouthed expression thumbnails these guys all use, they have the ability to earn their keep if they do end up on the streets. Just need a little lip stick and they are there.

Yes, but they used to look up to and aspire to be a cool, non-virgin guitarist. I had Slash and Eddie Van Halen. Now they have…

Engl Fireball 100 is easily their best amp - Change My Mind

Some of the amps that get “destroyed” in posts I’ve read in the past are absolute golden amps. Cool, someone has a preference or one amp is louder than the other or whatever. But destroyed always rubs me up the wrong way. Too over over dramatic and competitive.

Engl Fireball 100 is easily their best amp - Change My Mind

I must be honest, I have always hated the “one amp destroying another amp” philosophy and mindset. Heard this used to describe some of my favourite amps getting “destroyed”. I play for tone, not a drag race. I’ve even noticed some YouTubers (not the guy from this thread) setting up their amps...

    What's up with Tan Pants?

Which is the only thing that annoys me. I don’t begrudge people for having wealth, but it just hurts when all that money goes to poor taste.

    Loudest High Gain Amp????

My Deliverance 120 earned me a letter from an anonymous neighbour and a visit from the police.

It would need some amazing esoteric powers from “The Tree” for me to get past its looks.

Seems like a nice amp, that has its own thing different enough for your collection there.

BOSS EVH Delay is insane...even at mono

I feel we ain’t seen nothing yet as far as stripes and the EVH juggernaut. Now that he’s gone the businessmen will ramp everything up until we have EVH Bluetooth speakers and fridges. Hopefully I’m wrong. The best era for him was when he had just started with the signature Wolfgang. Still...

I'm James: I'm a Tube-a-holic.... recently, i've been heavily considering going digital. thoughts?

Not because of divorce, but yes because “I had to” when kids were born and I have a very small house. Bought a Kemper. It’s amazing. I don’t use it in any band situation and I wouldn’t. Nothing can compare to a tube amp there. But for the 99% of the time I am at home in front of a pair of...

    Reactive Loadboxes in 2023

Ease up a little homeboy. He likes what he likes. I don’t see how Steve Stevens having better quality FOH or pro audio equipment changes the load characteristics. Also, you’ve been enamoured with the AXE-FX recently. Not what I hear as realistic sounding.

"Amp feels good under the fingers"... WTF?

Also where they are “easier” to play is an issue. Why I easier and bouncy doesn’t even necessarily mean “nice under the fingers” to me. If the squish is in the high end I tend to really struggle with fast lead playing, because I like to alternate pick a lot. I find it easier to deal with on the...

"Amp feels good under the fingers"... WTF?

The problem I always find is, the bouncy fun amps to play, don’t record as well as one I felt I was struggling with.

I wish they would also make rack versions. That is more suited to my setup and uses. They do sound amazing in the demos.

Fryette Deliverance 120 ii or Splawn Quickrod 100 Watt

Mines not VHT. I bought it second hand. Not sure what year it is or anything. Love it though. I tell you the only thing I found strange getting my first Fryette. The tolex is not really black. It’s a very dark blue.
