I dont know why manufacturers don't put a hi mid and low mid knob on their amps. You would be able to change the mid character of the amp easily. I use an ebony or maple fretboard guitar with a JB in the bridge and an original Floyd Rose to give me more upper mids.
I cranked an original SLO 100 in a rehearsal studio once and compared it to the Peavey 5150 II. Not much difference or at least not $2000 worth. SLO had slightly more clarity and definition but more white noise. Another amp to get you close is the Tremoverb.
Yeah stories like these demonstrate he is a character with a twisted sense of humor lol. Blackmore too had this twisted sense of humor. These guys seem very similar but sonetimes rubs people the wrong way and it's understandable.
His video cut out a lot of the low end and I understand why he did that but the amp sounds a little too stringy in that video. Recording with the Ox also removes some of the realistic nature of the "tone in the room". Recording with mics is more difficult but when done right sounds more...
Psychodave nice work! Love those vintage MXR pedals. They sound very lush and rich even though there are some compromises with using them like the fixed ac chord and weight. Well you solved one of the issues, well done.
The enormous pressure to create the follow up album got the best of him. Too bad because his playing is magical when he is on. Happy for him that the Phoenix returned. I was hoping it would inspire him to finally create the follow up that we've all been waiting for.
I had the same issue with an amp and the bogner red pedal worked well to boost the high mids and add crunch while retaining the low end. Another option is a vintage mxr 10 band eq (still affordable but use an ac plug with no battery option).
I think Yngwie is usually laughing inside when he says something arrogant and people don't seem to get that. Now he's much cooler than he used to be but who could blame him for acting like a god when he first came on the music scene. He changed the rock guitar world at the age of 19 or so. EVH...
