Wizard guys, differences in MC vs MCII vs MTL?

Both the MCII and MTL mk2 are very versatile. As said, the MTL, with use of the sweep knob, presence and bright knobs can definitely get in to MC territory, but also has more total gain on tap and more low end extension. The contour knob on the MCII allows you to make it a bit darker and...

Mesa Mark IIC - upgrade to +?

This right here! Can also confirm Mesa is doing headshells again. Just got a new one for my mkiv.

    The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

You still have a couple III's, right? I am going to take the plunge, what the hell. I love Marks and I am curious about these. I understand the skepticism, but I have a positive feeling.

    Rock Standard Review

Ordered this a few months ago after a helpful discussion with @WizardSouth-JP I have had enough time behind it now, that I can give a review. Even though I feel the MC's, MTL's and Hellrazor's will always be the popular Wizard order and most discussed, hopefully this sheds some light on this...

    The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

Agree with everything here, man! If this turns out to be a very faithful recreation tone and feel wise of a 2C+, everybody does win. For the collectors: no need to lose sleep, your OG amps will still be vintage, rare and worth big money. Just look at other reissued amps by other manufacturers...

    The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

100% agree on this. I am picky with an amps feel and I knew within about 5 seconds I loved the feel of the 2C+ I played. I don't know if I have ever played another amp that combined that level of give/bounce under the fingers with being that tight and immediate.

    The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

That is certainly true. Have you tried any modern tubes in your Mesa's? I suppose with a supply of NOS tubes, you don't have to, but curious if you have just to try. Keeping tonal response separate, I definitely think the vintage tubes were made to a higher standard. I have had plenty of brand...

    The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

The thing is, if it is spec'd just like the original, with the same component values, I don't see how it can sound or feel THAT much different than an original. I had a chat with a good friend who is an electrical engineer and he always gets a good chuckle out of the whole "these capacitors and...

    Apparently there's a supposed rumour of a C+ reissue

Has there been confirmation on whether it will be a Rev F or G? I have seen people say both.

A cautionary tale of choosing the right refinisher: How my 93 PRS CU24 got "ruined".

Man that sucks. :( I have had a PRS 305 for a number of years and always wanted a refin + rear humbucker route. I am sending it to the PRS PTC crew in a week or so here. The mod and refin will cost more than a local guy, but it will be a factory job.

HIGH GAIN BATTLE! Mesa-Boogie Dual Rectifier 1994 Rev G vs 2024 MultiWatt!

Fizzy, loose and overscooped? Ya, I guess that is how I remember most (not all...and I like triples G's better for sure) of the Rev G Dual Recs I owned in the 90's and early 00's.

    Unkle Mo..HELP . VH4 cab question

Yup. I have a FL V30 4x12 right next to my Mesa Traditional 4x12 and the Diezel is a noticeably brighter cabinet than the Mesa. Works great with huge, "Wall of sound" type amps like Ubers and Diezels, but I find it harsh/brittle with Marshalls and Wizards, which are quite bright amps.

    Apparently there's a supposed rumour of a C+ reissue

Absolutely. I would say the same thing about my mkiv compared to a C+ Or maybe a new model Silverface VH4 compared to a Blueface VH4 Now, both a C+ and Blueface are pretty dang amazing amps, but to MOST players you are paying for significant diminishing returns when you buy an amp like that...

    Wizard 412 cabinet question

If it were me and I didn't want to spend the big money on buying/shipping a new Wizard cab, I would second @Techdeth and recommend an Ubercab. I normally dislike a v30/t75 speaker combo, but in that cab it works awesome....and will absolutely do the hard rock and thrash tones you are after...

    Wizard 412 cabinet question

Hi Jerry, My understanding was that the Wizard cabs are now manufactured to Rick's specs by KSR. I read a post here where Friedman stated his cabs are not the same as Wizard, so while they are great cabs they aren't the same. If that matters. "Better" is subjective. Friedman, Bogner, Fryette...

    Mark IV or TRIAXIS.

Agreed, my Mark IV has a great clean channel. And yeah, having owned both, I would take the MkIV over a Triaxis all day long. I was stupid to sell the first MKIV I had, but the one I have now isn't going anywhere.

New music video that I'm super proud of. Check it out! Splawn /Suhr Content - Updated w/ second video.

Some cool riffs, great tone and excellent vocals...but most importantly, it is a well written, kick ass tune! Great job; I will definitely check out more of your bands work!

    Favorite Alnico 8 humbucker?

Favorite would be a Duncan Custom shop S-Deco w/ A8 magnet and two rows of hex screws. Second would be a Duncan Custom shop Screamin' Demon wound to 13k with an A8 magnet. That thing was a firebreather. The Alternative 8 is also a great pickup. I did a mag swap in the Custom and didn't like...

Seymour Bro we need to talk ...

Custom is a classic and was my first 'Duncan (Custom 5 was second). That said, I found it to always be picky about which guitar I had it in. It could be God tier or a horrible combo of boomy and harsh.
