Thanks man. In terms of which one I liked better in any comparo, I was fairly split. Good job. I still need to evaluate the feels..

Mark IIC+ reissue vs OG ++ CLIP

@Tone Monster here's an ask. I assume you used the same settings on both for this clip..? Assuming so- if you leave the OG as is, then make this shift to the settings of the RI, does it catch up? - Turn presence up to 7 or 8 - Reduce 6600 to balance the top end back out On all the other modern...

Ok thanks. With the OGs, RED is great for the Class A slots and sometimes YEL will work too, depends on the amp. For the Class A/B slots though RED will be pretty cold. GRN is generally where you want to be, though I have had ones that were running hotter & needed YEL. GRY & BLU would...

OMG if I had a dollar for every time I've seen this happen. Guy 1- "I do this for a living, have tons of experience, this is what I've observed, I'm not trying to sell you something, so take it or leave it." Guy 2- "You're an idiot, I've read everything online & have done this a couple times...

It's the feels my man, and it's not that we think they can't get it right, they HAVEN'T gotten it right. If you're a recording studio, honestly you probably won't care as you can get most of them to sound close enough in a mix. Just ask Ola. However, if you're the player, and you draw...

Another thought, I wouldn't be suprised if they were throwing 4 of all the same color code 6L6 in here even though it's a Simul amp. It remains to be seen if they kept the C+ bias setup or if they went super cold like the modern offerings, but in either case it's possible there are power tubes...

FWIW my JP2Cs esentially did this same thing, and they were RCS designed. it's possible this is a factor of modern things and not this amp specifically?

On the IIC/+ yes. As I understand it though on the IIBs, where the Gain Boost plates came from, the function was different. I don't recall the specifics though.

I was going to say the same thing. Any time I send in OG in to Mike B for a recap & service, when it comes back with new caps they tend to feel stiff for the first week or so and then they seem to "break in" and sound / feel great. I haven't quantified this but I've sent at least 20 in for...

Nah, I think what he's saying is one post saying "all vids suck" and then the next post is yours, that sounds great. Exactly what I'd expect from a half back. I think all the produced vids have sucked. I also think that a bunch of the phone vids have been spot on, and just want I wanted to...

WIth all the modern Marks with the Pull Deep hardwired it's really hard to get rid of that weird mid hump. That said, with the baby Fives at least my Treble Dump trick REALLY wakes them up. May work on other modern Marks, not sure. Give it a try. Standard 0:50, treble dump 1:50. Yeah I never...

Yeah. I think a reason I personally prefer the OG IIs and IIIs is because of that raw, open, 3D character they have. To me the IV still has some of this and moves a lot of air but it is transitioning towards the modern compression. The big V just doesn't have it- it's a lot more modern, which I...

While I do like C++ in the bedroom and on the mic, in the live band I tend to prefer C+ boosted when I want it as tight & precise as possible. Sounds legit here. That said, between the IIB, IIC+, III and IV, the C+ is my least favorite live because the happy 750 range is SO narrow, and it's...

That's because Extreme on the V has no negative feedback, like Modern on the Rectos and the IIB Colis. The trade off is that it makes it a bit more loose, which you can gather back in with a boost. The C+ tone on the V is pretty meh for high gain, most guys agree the IV tone is better although...
