I didn't realize T-Tops were desirable.
The one vintage Les Paul I've tried had T-Tops which, on top of being really bright and pretty underpowered, were microphonic in the particular guitar I played.
Another vote for the Gibson 500T. Killer pickup for anything heavy.
FWIW, I don't think the 500T is just a 498T with Ceramic magnets. Based on the DCR, I think it's got a few more winds on it as well.
The 81X sounds just like the 81 at 24V with the output notched down just a tad. It's literally two resistors apart from the regular 81. It renders nothing obsolete, IMO.
Thanks for listening!
Yes, the high-end is the biggest trouble area I have right now. I don't know if it's inherent to the way I play, to the amp model I'm using on the HX, or to the HX platform in general, but I think I need a very surgical cut somewhere around the high-mids or lower treble...
2x12's are not actually louder than 1x12's. They just sound bigger and spread the sound over more area. But speaker coupling only really occurs below 500Hz, hence making them sound "bigger", but not perceivably louder.
Um... So not much of a shredder neck, then? More middle-of-the-road?
I like the Fender Modern C, FWIW. I don't like the 9.5" radius, but the profile itself is nice, especially for a guitar like a Fender. But to know that's kinda what they use on Charvels is kind of disappointing. I would've...
I mean the mid-priced Mexican-made ones.
I'm looking into maybe a Phil Sgrosso sig or a regular So-Cal.
I really like the looks, but I don't know what the neck is like. Is it Jackson-like? Ibanez-like? Fender-like? Is it thin? How thin? What's the back of the neck shaped like?
I don't like...
I hate what slanting the bridge pickup that way does to the tone.
Like... why would someone want the bass notes softer/looser and the treble notes more icepicky?
The finish does look kinda cool. Not what I'd have on my guitar, but it does look cool.
There's a video where he says he didn't like how the tones came out on Edge of the Earth.
I love them, personally. They sound aggressive and unique but not like those some of those bands that sometimes aim for a "rawer" sound that just come out hipster-y and underproduced.
JMO, of course. I...
I used to have a Squire Esquire, and quite honestly, I don't think the build quality was any worse than the MIM Strat I currently have. It just had terrible hardware and electronics, but I replaced those.
The only reason I got rid of it is because I absolutely hated how the body was multipiece...
I love the 498T and the 500T. They're different, though.
The 498T has kind of a underwound Duncan JB kinda vibe. It's got a similar mid emphasis as the JB, but it's not quite as hot, and it's slightly more open in the highs and lows.
The 500T has more of a Duncan Distortion meets Duncan Custom...
