Yes, the Helix is a great piece of equipment, I regret selling my HX rack. It had a bug that was driving me crazy, they later fixed it with a firmware update. But on the other hand, I don't regret selling the Axe FXIII.
Umm, overkill. Depends on what one wants to do with it. And Kemper is GREAT...
It may sound stupid, but after several attempts with small devices like Mooer, Valeton, etc. I ended up with Kemper. As a device for practicing through headphones, I'm not kidding. It is decently controllable via the front panel, there are heaps of profiles and you can connect it to a PC at any...
I haven't owned many guitars, but I've had quite a few over the years. I ended up with a Charvel SoCal, a Schecter Super Shredder and my keeper is surprisingly an ordinary old LTD F250. Great feeling, great tone-wise.
I had a Marshall Mode Four with Redbacks. Good. Then I tried a combination of 2xRedback, 2xG12EVH and I liked it. But the Redback is so dominant and distinctive that I ended up with 1xRedback and 3xG12EVH and I'm happy. I probably wouldn't go back to 4x Redback.
Little things make a big difference. My Kemper, if the room is warmer, it sounds warmer, if the room is cooler, it sounds cooler. If the humidity is low, it sounds drier, if the humidity rises, the sound is a bit drowned.
The price is more than favorable, considering the preamp is Handbuilt in the USA. Just hand soldering that many SMD components must take a hell of a lot of time. Just kidding :)
I have Marshall MF slanted equipped with G12EVH and it sounds great. However, once a guy came with Engl XXL and I was completely surprised, how fantastic it sounded. If it was not heavy as hell, I would buy it immediately.
