I enjoy having hamstrings still attached to my body and a lower back that still works, so I do like casters. I like the mesa track lock system, kinda best of both worlds for those who like versatility.
The 5 stage stuff I’ve tried all sucks, 3-4 is the sweet spot. Definitely try it but I think with an slo type circuit it’s gonna be way too much gain in all the wrong places.
I would however recommend playing around with different values or cut out the cathode follower and do a 4 stage plate...
I had a set of EH EL34’s that were way out of spec, like 25% maybe more mismatch. Second best sounding set of tubes I ever had.
If they’re going in an amp with irreplaceable transformers I look for a 3(ish) Ma variance. If it’s a clone or something I can get trannies for I like some degree of...
Hermasson because they don’t sound like a Jose and he doesn't steal shit.
In all honesty though it’s whatever you like. In terms of versatility of options I’d have to give it to red plated.
Plumbing in general. Your either dealing with shit or constantly wet. If you fuck up it’s going to cost thousands to repair. Plus you always seem to have your neck craned at some weird angle for hours at a time. Il do everything that dosent involve shit.
Outside of that I’ll do everything else...
EVH 5150, I’ve played probably 3 of them at guitar store volumes. Everyone of them sounded horrific, worse than a boogie mark with no graphic EQ. Probably should buy one though.
Late to the party but the plan is to grow existing relationships with neighbors. Most have livestock, chickens, ect and are on a similar page. Existing food and water stores are covered for 3+ months, from there it would be a lotta eggs and well water.
Immediate plan of attack would get every...
I’ve noticed the people selling boner pills and spells have not entered… speaks volumes on their character and charitably.
Seriously though that’s cool as shit and speaks volumes on Rick as a person, as well as TM for setting this up.
Genalex Gold Lion KT-77 Quad. They have roughly 3hrs of time on them with about 1hr of that being burn in to check for bias drift. I just don’t like them in my JMP. No issues with matching. Yours for $205 delivered in the continental US.
They’re fine as is. Only thing I might do is tape over the jacks or any holes to keep dust/ creatures out. If it’s in an enclosed container maybe some desiccant packs
I believe they cut wattage in half every click. So it would be 0=100w -4=50w -8=25w -12=12.5w -16=6.25-0w. Just remember most that Marshall cranked puts out about 180watts, so doubble the above wattage numbers if it’s cranked.
Given this is mostly forum leans heavy towards 80’s and 90’s metal. I’d say Marshall and mesa boogie. If you collected the numbers I bet the most prolific amp here is nmv and mv Marshall’s, probably modded by 3-4 various builders here. Followed closely by mark 2/3/4’s, maybe dual rectos.
Sounds like you might have nicked it, that stuff is really hard to strip correctly. I’d almost recommend peeling it vs using wire cutters.
You should only need a grid resistor on the first stage.
Like others have said depends on the audience and what you think is easy. My top choice would be shimmering highs by John norum but I don’t think that’s super easy to learn. March of the crabs is pretty easy and sounds cool. Maybe switch 625?
