Thing is mine will only cut out on certain of its outlets and not on others, so the whole thing never completely loses power. I have no idea how that thing is wired inside, so maybe it still is that connector somehow. I just know I have to wiggle the connector where it plugins into the Ojai and...
Yeah the Spark Boost is a good one to have in the arsenal when you want to stick closer to your core tone than what a TS will give you. If I'm nitpicking, it could use a little more output imo; however, it's still a worthy one to have around for sure.
Funny you say that. When I first got my Ojai, I was hearing something similar. I ended up getting a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2, and the Ojai did make drive pedals sound more harsh in comparison. It sent me down a rabbit hole of researching online hahaha, but apparently I wasn't the only person...
I have a Strymon Ojai. It can be finicky at times keeping a consistent electrical connection on some of its outlets. Like something inside has a poor connection. Super annoying at times. It's never been gigged or roughed up either. If I was gigging again, I would not use it.
I've had both in the same guitars:
M6 - it's a little hotter & punchier with a more firm/stiff and aggressive attack under the fingers. There is a little bit of a hollow characteristic to it as well. It has quite a bit of bass. So much so that it can actually get overly boomy in some guitars...
Definitely give the SM57 a shot.
Edit: Just to add, the OC18 is a freaking monster on guitar cabs too. It's good enough to be a single source mic for guitar cabs and also blends well with a 57. It's not cheap, though. However, I'd still start with the SM57 as a first mic specifically for...
I played a handful of LP and SG Moderns back in 2019 at a local shop near me that gets lots of nice Gibsons. I was super excited to check them out and really wanted to like them, but I didn’t dig them at all. They looked and felt cheap - the fit and finish was subpar, wobbly pots, didn’t...
I like them, but they are amp dependent and you have to watch the top end. The also seem rather sensitive to mic placement. I really dig them with my Carsten Grace & Plexi. They’re also cool with my EVH Stealth, but ultimately I like that amp better with V30’s.
I’ve only played the Warpig from that list. The alnico one is definitely thick. A bit round as well. I didn’t love it. I’d honestly lean towards the ceramic version. It’s thick enough, but has more tightness and cut without being harsh. It’s an “on all the time” sort of pick up in regards to its...
Honestly, you have tons of options. Some that come to mind are the MCP 2nd Degree Black Belt and WCR Icebucker (maybe a Godwood since he doesn’t make the Icebucker any more and they’re supposed to be similar) in that beefed up PAF range. If you want a bit more heat, the PRS Metal or Tremonti...
They stopped putting 4x12’s on their site a few years ago. I contacted them after that at one point and he said the still built them. Not sure if that’s still the case though.
I have heard about that 90 day window, but I just found this. Did Reverb recently change it or is there some other fine print stuff I’m missing?

Another Bogren vote from me. There is definitely some post eq on them, but I feel like these have a more natural and open top end than a lot of others.
