$100 For An Empty Peavey 5150 412 cab…worth it?

I have a friend who’s willing to let go of his to me if I want. Has anyone played/own one with different speakers? I guess my question is how do these cabs sound without the stock Sheffield’s and loaded with other speakers. I’m chewing on the deal. I would probably load it up with redbacks or maybe even Scumbacks.
 
Yeah. They’re built like tanks. The Sheffield 1290s are ok-ish, maybe a little dark. I have a straight cab that I replaced the 1290s with Vintage 30s and it’s probably my favorite cab.
 
He gutted the cab so again, it’s empty. I know how it sounds with the Sheffield’s already. Not great nor as horrendous as everyone else makes it out to be. Empty 412. So anyway, not concerned about build quality as I’m already aware of it. Just was concerned about sound

I would look into that bro however that was an exclusive deal to me. If I don’t buy it he’s gonna keep it. He’s moving to KY in February. Wanted less things to haul. Hell, he’s offering me a stupid price to take his motorized cruiser bike as well that I don’t want or need either lol

Well it’s worth getting it man
 
Grab that cab and load Celestion RB and V30. I have 5150 cab with RB/v30 combo. I like my PV cab more than my Bogner Uberkab if you belive or not.
 
I think they're kinda like modern-ish Marshall cabs that are solid, but no Mesa/Bogner/Friedman, whatever.

However, for 100 dollars, well worth it, IMO.
 
I'd say go for it , but only if you already have at least one pair of the speakers.

If you need to buy all four speakers then I'd say no. In that case I'd start with a used mesa and go from there. You can always sell a couple of those mesa v30s to recoup a bit of the money back.
 
That’s the thing. I need this like I need a glass shard enema. i have 7 cabs already. I would only want it to put speakers in it I don’t own like scumbacks or redbacks

No way I would buy it if I already had seven cabs to mix and match speakers in.
On the other hand the thread is about being worth $100, and it certainly is.
