For your consideration, I have a (what i believe to be) a 1954 Silvertone/Kay THIN TWIN.
I'm basing the year on the style of the pickguard, the headstock design and information i read in my Vintage Guitar magazine that featured these guitars. The codes on the pots are covered with soldier.
The only thing i could find is a couple numbers inside under the pickguard.
The guitar is all original with the exception of the 3 screws that hold on the tailpiece. The toggle tip and the logo appear to be missing, although, i see no residue or outline where a logo used to be?
From what i understand, these guitars are very sought after in the blues world....primarily for slide.
The neck on this guitar doesn't have a truss rod. There is some relief in the neck, which makes the action a little high in the upper register. Its perfect for slide and cowboy chords. The frets are tiny and low. The neck is HUGE!!!!! There are small cracks on the headstock wings...from age, not abuse.
All the electronics work perfectly!
The guitar is in great shape considering its age. Its really fun to play.
It has a very woody tone. Not as thin as you might expect. Pretty fat sound.
$1400 pay palled and shipped ...NO TRADES please
Thanks for looking!
