1959slp plexi re or Vintage Modern?

Looking for an affordable Marshall Plexi tone without spending a small fortune. How is the 1959 SLP Hand Wired plexi? Does the VM get close?

I haven't heard any vids of the tone I am looking for in the VM but thought I would ask anyway.
 
I'd go with the RI, but is just me. If you take that route, consider an attenuator as part of the purchase. I used a Bad Cat Leash with my RI and it worked pretty well. Today I have a plexi clone and an Alex. I'd go with the Alex.

My RI did not have a loop and sounded great. I've heard people say the loops in the RIs affect the tone. I don't have experience with that, but certainly something to consider. A metro loop is nice and fairly inexpensive.
 
I only have a little experience with both amps .... For me it would be the 1959. I highly recommend trying both.... these are pretty different amps if you ask me.
 
Very different amps.

The VM was designed to be a hot rodded JTM, hence the additional gain stage, and KT66's.

Do I love it? Hell yes!! Would I get it to cop a Plexi? No, the RI will do that better.
 
Oh yeah, V-Plex from Voodoo amps. Played one once and I was very impressed. Almost bought it but the guy backed out.

That's what I think I am going with. The SLO will be the next amp :D
 
:thumbsup: I think you will like an SLO. If not I'll buy it from you, I love the SLO. Using it with the Torpedo Live should yeild excellent results.
 
Does your XTC Ch. 2 not have plexi mode? That gets me there!
