My first guitar was a 1962 Gibson SG Jr. I was a dumb ass and sold it. I've wanted another one since, but with the cost of "vintage" guitars going through the roof, I haven't been able to justify the expense. One that is identical to the one I had popped-up for sale a few months ago for $3,900. It goes away and then reappears at that same price every few weeks. Clearly, no one thinks it's a bargain and the seller doesn't appear to be in a hurry, or willing to lower the price
There is no doubt that I would love to have it. But it's doubtful that I would actually go through with the purchase - I can think of several things to use that money on that I actually need/want and the '62 would have to be a collector's piece at that price. But, I'm curious what a "fair" price would be for that guitar. Any of you Gibson experts care to chime in? I know there are a lot of variables (condition, perceived collectibility, documentation, potential appreciation, etc), but I'm curious... and tempted.
