I wish I could say this was mine, but it is not, A friend of mine bought this 1968 custom w original case for $2500.00, I played it a couple of days ago and it plays like BUTTER, I say that because it does, and sounds incredible, what a wonderful find

some of these have showed up on e-bay for 8 to 10,00 dollars already, not sure if they sold or not

Holy crap he got it for a steal! Looks freaken awesome

Awesome. '68 is when Norlin bought them out. The rumors have been around for years that they used leftover stuff from the 50's, but nothing to really substantiate it for or against. They were long tenon like the 50's. I'm not sure about the top, is it maple? 50's Customs are a one piece mahogany body that's routed and carved.

Regardless, that's a helluva piece.

yes it is a one piece mahogany body and it does have a maple top

What I meant by one piece is the 50s Customs didn't have a maple top, they were a big chunk of mahogany with a top carved in it, and they used a long drill bit to go from the input jack, through the control cavity past the pickups all the way to the switch. I know the 68 Custom RI's have the maple cap, but I didn't know if the actual 68's did.

I've seen people asking 12k for those.

This is a 3 piece maple top for sure you can see the lines
