What: 1988 PRS Standard 24
Where: Deltona, FL
Price:$3200 $2500
Up for sale is my '88 PRS Standard 24. It is a monster that I will miss, but the misses and I are trying to purchase a home. No trades.
Other than a set of Seymour Duncan '59s that are nearly as old as the guitar and a set of Schaller strap locks, it is all original. I do have the original strap buttons and they will be included. I do not have the original pickups. I bought it with the SD's already in it.
It still utilizes the 5 way rotary switch and switch sweet for 10 awesome sounds. It sounds HUGE and plays fantastically. It's currently set up with NYXL 10s in standard/drop D.
Cosmetically, you wouldn't guess this guitar is 35 years old. It has a couple of pen tip dings in the body, the lightest of worming on the back, a ding on the tip of the headstock and other light evidence of being played. The fret ends show in the finish, as at some point in it's life, it's been dry. I have kept it in my humidity controlled home studio and it has settled right in with no fret sprout or any issues of that sort. It could use one more good fretboard cleaning. The Brazilian RW board is GORGEOUS. It plays silky smooth as well.
The only real issue I'd say is note worthy is that the original volume potentiometer feels a bit gritty. I deoxit-ed it and got it functional. I never had a need to replace it and wanted to retain the original electronics aside from the previous owner's pickup swap. It also does NOT have a trem arm. It never bothered me as I do not use trem much, but it is the original tremolo that utilizes the PRS slip-in arm from that era.
I struggled to price this one as they are few and far between on the market or have other attributes that make them MUCH more valuable than this example. I'm leaning on pricing it under the market value. You're welcome to offer more or just take the deal and run. I will include shipping in my asking price for buyers with references or secure/non retractable payment forms.
Want more pictures? Just ask. Want audio clips? Have tons. Want to video chat about the guitar and walk through of the tones and close up of it? I can do that too. I'm a picky buyer and I'm well equipped to work with other picky buyers
I'm located in Deltona, FL and am willing to drive to meet up etc. I'm super flexible. If it's calling your name, just drop me a line and we'll discuss how to make it happen.
Thanks
