I am letting go of my CAE 3+ preamp, with upgraded PT mod (replaces the stock 'donut' toroid Pt).
Unit sounds fantastic,,,clean channel is the best sounding clean I've heard on any rack mount pre, channel 2 and 3,,, fantastic!!! Can cover everything from Lukather to Megadeth to many EVH tones heard on F.U.C.K. Unbelievably quiet,,,the noise floor of this unit is a thing of beauty.
Very slight scratches and minor rash here and there, but the unit works perfectly.
I've owned this for nearly 10 years. Bought here on RT back in 2016, however it appears the listing got 'nuked' from the archives. I have tried to find it here in the archives, as the previous owner had lots of info about this CAE 3+ and how the PT upgrade he had done makes all the difference. All I know is that during the limited studio use I've had with it, this preamp has been fantastic and has performed flawlessly.
**I tried many times to secure the proprietary foot switch for this thing, with no luck. Emails to Bob Bradshaw went nowhere, and constant searching of the interwebs yielded no joy! So, I made a somewhat clunky attempt at making my own, which I will include in the sale. (See picture)
Yes, it's crude looking, but does allow you to switch between/access all 3 channels. To access the super cool global post EQ section of the preamp, one can simply connect a single button footswith to the EQ jack on the back of the unit.(not included)
