So a couple days ago I went to my parents to pick up my Avatar vintage 4x12 cab which has all v30's, but a blend of chinese and uk v30's (I don't hear much of a difference to be honest). It looks just like a Bogner cab with the same dimensions to. It has the fullest midrange to it of any cab I've used, just very balanced sounding and tight. I also have a Mesa rectifier oversized cabinet which also has v30's but this cab is quite a bit more scooped and pushes out a ton of low end, like 100hz or so, as some of you may know, it's a fat sounding cab.

Anyways, i hooked up both of these cabs to my Mark IV and was blown away at the sound. The mix of those two cabs created the biggest sounding tone I think i've ever had. I wonder why more people aren't mixing different cabs or using two cabs instead of the usual mixing of speakers in a cab? All cabs with different construction have different tones and some blend quite well together. It was a good tone day for sure. That's gonna be my new permanent setup from now on.

My rig is two half stacks . One is Wizard MTL2 into a Bogner Uberkab and the other is a Diezel Herbert mk1 into a FL Diezel cab . Not just cabs but two heads make everything bigger because so many more frequencies can added thst the ear is in Heaven

Back in the day I ran stereo 5150 and 5150II half stacks on stage.

Now I always ran just one cabinet. I like the bite and sizzle of my amps at 16ohms. I don’t normally like how Marshall’s sound with two cabinets - too much top end is lost.

I also stopped caring enough hauling to venues or practice. One 4x12 is bad enough.

I don't generally enjoy playing a full stack; seems to cause ear fatigue quickly and the top cab sounds shrill without any floor reflections. Side by side 4x12s are ok but one has always been good enough.

Agree 100 percent!!

I’ve run two cabs a lot and sometimes two half stack rigs . I think I’m going to be running my mezzabarba m zero and slo in a wet dry half stack combo. M zero through stoneage v30 and the slo through a stoneage cream back 65 both 4x12’s

After running 2 4x12s for a while a single 4x12 (even an oversized one) just sounds and feels weak. To make it so playing through anything less is tolerable again, one must go cold turkey and forgo even a half stack. Play unplugged, a small practice amp or just a plugin until the decibel desensitizing effects wear off. After that even a single 4x12 will sound huge again. :giggle:

I have been running two 4X12's for a couple years now and love it. Currently using a 1960B with greenbacks and an EVH with the stock speakers. EVH branded Celestion Heritage I believe. The EVH cab smooths out the highs just a touch which I like especially when running the Stealth 50W. The 1960B is my #1 and sounds great with the 2203X or 50W plexi clone I have on the shelf.

Also have a Friedman SS and another 1960B with greenbacks that sit on top of the other two cabs at the moment. I like the looks of those stacks in my jam room.

This is do true . Can’t stand a cab on top of another

I just dabbled in stereo for the first time thanks to those in this forum and even an extra 1x12 Mesa cab adds a lot.

I run my Diezel VH2 into a 2x12 on channel 2 and then the Mark V 25 in Crunch mode. The mix sounds good to me.

But now I want another 2x12. Thinking an Atlas cabinet with some 65 or 75s creambacks to go with the V30s in my deizel.

I’ve been ruined by running two 4x12’s side by side. A single cab now sounds small and boxy.

I always play two 4x12's or two full stacks. It's a must for me.

that is interesting. I didn't know that two 4x12s would lose topend...you may have just saved me 800 bones.

My go to for the last 10 years has been a Whitebox K100 loaded 2x12 on top of whatever 412 with whatever speakers.. Always just sounds "right" to me.
