Hi Andy,

any DMM which has a beep for testing (diode tester normally) and handles 1000 Volts DC, 700AC, measures Ohm in lower values correctly. 20mA current DC too. Most 20$ WalMart things.

250 Volts - for the fuses. Those aren't DC tested (the value is given in AC), so don't mind it. 250V is always enough.

Hello Andi,

there is about 20 to 30 volts on open cathode.
250V AC is a common type here in Europe. If
You can get some fuses that are filled with
"sand" (corns) would be fantastic. They don´t
explode while getting a short.
But any type of 5 x 20 mm will work.

Best,

Peter

Hey Andy, you can get a great one at Home Depot/Lowes that does the job perfect.... Like $20, and I have used it for everything from building an amp to troubleshooting car stereos....

Peter thanks for your info! you rock! also wolfman28 thanks for your input on the dmm, which brand did you get? im home from the road and there is a home depo right next to my house so i thought i will just stop in on monday. Down From Up is returning to the studio at the end of october and im using the down time to re arm myself :D

2 more questions for you guys:

1: i have plenty of power tubes BUT dont have any spare preamp tubes, what should i order? i wanna have spares for everything because i hate being in a bind and using my backup head. recommendations for spares would be great!

2: Also i have put together a new rack and have one problem: the isp decimator has a "wallwort" style power supply and it hangs down from the furman wasting an empty rack space i want to have for something else, is there a different 9volt 900ma adapter that isnt a wallwort that i could use? how do i solve this problem?

thanks guys

1) Good tube seller - look for selected stuff like chinese/Sino/Shuguang. Avoid 7025 for sockets 4,5,6. In 1,2,3 they are fine (smooth sounding). JJs for some darker character if needed.

2) you need to look at http://www.mouser.com - and b/c you already the values (you can use more mA like 1000mA or even 2000mA) you can get any DC (make sure its DC - if not its AC !!! - Rocktron f.i. uses AC, not DC) regulated 9V supply, which has a wire instead being a "wart" . . . 20$ too normally.

yeah its 680 ma, 9 volt AC not DC and i tired to use the product finder on mouser, and i guess im an idiot but i couldnt find a picture of what i needed, i dont have the electronic vocabulary to get the product i need :aww:

I bought a Sperry DM-350a... Home Depot is weird though, they carry different brands at different locations... But they should have that one there....
