I own a Framus Cobra, Engl Powerball, EVH 5150 III and a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL100 which I love just to give some background. I have a 2008 Herbert and have never really liked the tone like I thought I would. It just didn't have that insane uber-metal sound like I expected. Come to find out through these forums and through communication with Diezel there were problems with the EL34's that came with the amps and they've recommended changing to 6550's, plus the guy I talked to named Peter said that there could also be a blown fuse (which I found) and possibly preamp tube problems. However, he told me he'd walk me through it the middle of last week, but has not returned any of my attempts to contact him since. I have the opportunity to sell it, and I don't want to end up spending time, money for more tubes and so on, just to end up not liking the tone anyway and have missed the chance. I know it's not like there won't be future opportunities, but I am curious to know if anyone out there has done a similar procedure and if they were pleased with the result. I also had the chance to play an Einstein locally and it sounded killer, just what I was after in the first place. That also puts the question in my mind if they would be open to swapping my Herbert for an Einstein, but the Herbert's worth more so I don't know if they'd be willing to cover any difference in price. Recommendations? Experience? Thanks!

Hi

Sorry to hear about your problems. I've heard similar stories. I'm afraid I can't help you but I'm sure someone on here can. In fact if you use the search feature you will probably turn up a thread with the info you need.

I just wanted to mention that there are only a handful of people at Diezel and they are insanely busy at the moment, they aren't being rude or slacking, just swamped.

I hope you get sorted soon!

Where are You located ?

What´s the serial number of Your amp ?

I need more information about Your "problem"

Thanks,

Peter

I had a broken tube and never retubed a amp. P. Stapfer helped me via webcam and explaind everything. Theire verry bussy, so you might have to wait.

About the tone, it took me a while to get used to the herbert. You have to understand how the eq works. Just play with the gain and the treble and youle see, you dont need to crank the gain on any channel, trust me. (make shore you have fresh strings)
