I recently acquired a 20th 6l6 xtc..love the first 2 channels and then some, whether its regular or plexi mode;doesnt matter, either way it kills..even in class a- it seems to add a sparkle and crispness that's nice and musical(although the tubes are really cookin)..but I cant seem to get ch 3's flub out of the bottom end.Ive been trying all the little switches for that channel,(in class a/b) and although the gain itself is real nice,it seems to me the the low end tone is a tad too loose.Any tips?

Try assigning channel three to use excursion b.

On the front panel, left side, you will find 2 little switches called Excursion A and Excursion B. Excursion
is our name for speaker cone travel, and damping factor which can be controlled via the switches. The
Ecstasy offers you three options; "T" (Tight), "L" (Loose) & "M" (Medium). The Tight setting will be more
"even" from low string to high string, while the Loose setting will have a much bigger bass sound. The
Medium position is midway between Loose & Tight. Notice, to the right of Excursion B, there is a switch
called "Presence B Select". If you leave this switch on "O", then presence "A" and Excursion "A" will serve
all 3 channels. You have the option of assigning Presence "B” and Excursion "B" to Channel 1 or Channel
3. Let's say you want a very funky, bright clean, not too much bottom but you want also a huge, slamming
lead with tons of bottom. You want your crunch big bottomed, too. Simple, set Excursion A to "L" (Loose).
Set Presence "A" wherever it sounds good for Channels 2 & 3. Switch Presence "B" Select to Ch 1 and
set Excursion "B" to "T" (Tight). Whatever channel is assigned to Presence & Excursion "B", the other two
channels will be governed by Presence & Excursion "A".

Thanks.much appreciated.although I have read and tried that from my manual... My tech is checking the tubes, so we'll see if they're worn and need replaced..that could also be a symptom of flubby low end.. Just trying all the angles. Maybe some folks who own 20ths will chime in on their favorite ch 3 settings.

Bias was waaaay off on the amp.Had the tech re bias and check..Ch 3 now really rips it.Tight, percussive, thick, chewy gain for days. All the flub-gone

Youre not kiddin!....I cant believe someone had this xtc biased waaaay past what the settings call for...Love everything about the xtc now.Even had it dialed in for a country gig, tomorrow will dial it in for a metal jam.killer amp.

I'd have to get the readings off my tech,as that was months ago, but as I remember the miliamps/voltage numbers were insane high.I remember him saying its a wonder the thubes didn't blow or at least a fuse. The funny thing is this amp was for sale in a reputable guitar store that checks that stuff out before they put it out for sale.Oh well, I love the amp now.Getting great compliments on the tone.
