So, got a 20th XTC and like it a lot.
Problem is, both my Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay and Diamond Memory Lane 2 are distorting in the FX Loop.

So what's everyone using for Delay in the Loop of their XTC's????

I'm using a hardwire dl-8 delay on the tape settings. Works absolutely trouble free and is a great delay with a good variety of delay types and is also a looper. When I get bored with that one I use the tc flashback with no troubles.

You have to turn the channel volumes (which are the loop send levels) down (9-10 oclock) in order to not overdrive your fx and make up the volume on the return by turning it up. The other option is using a device like the Ebtech level matcher where you can drop the send to hit your fx with less and then it raises it heading back into the return. I have one of these I used with my XTC. PM me if interested, I am willing to sell it. It does work, I needed it when I ran my Retrosonic chorus in the loop but since I moved it to out front I dont have a need for it anymore. Good luck

Tried a Eventide TimeFactor, it stayed clean and handled the signal level fine.
But I'm not crazy about the delay itself.
I'm more of an Analog Delay guy.
Anyone try a Strymon Timeline with an XTC??

Eventide TF in the loop, zero issues. Had to adjust levels accordingly, but other than this, no sweat.

I'm more used to pristine loops like that of the Diezels, but overall, the 20thA-X offers a fine loop. And it is by far one of - if not the - fave amp of mine. Tone for decades, and you'd have to be a rhino to make that thing sound bad.

Good luck!

The TimeFactor is great if you want really clean, clear digital delay sounds.
My favorite Delays are a Memory Lane 2 and Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay.
So digi ain't my thang.
I didn't figure I would bond with it but wanted to give it a try anyway.
From what I've read the Timeline is going to be more to my liking and can handle (according to the guys at Strymon) Line Level signal.
We'll see as soon as I can sell my TimeFactor...

Timeline in the house and it sounds GREAT with my XTC 20th!!!

The Lo-Fi stuff is fun.
I'm surprised (but shouldn't be) at how much this sounds like an analog delay pedal.
This pedal is packed full of useful functions.
Strymon did a great job with this pedal!

Nice. Thanks for pouring fuel on the gas flames

Sorry
I even like the Digital Delay on it, which is not usually my thing.

Another Timeline and 20thA XTC owner here. Sounds incredible.

I use a timeline, Ditto looper, and a mobius in pre/post mode, so some patches in front of the amp, some patches in the loop of my 101b with no problems. I was originally running the channel masters up at noon or above, which caused all kinds of trouble. I was even able to solve that with the Ebtech Line Level shifter. I think the channels sound better at lower levels, so no need to use the Ebtech.
