I've had my 20th XTC (EL34) for a while now, done a couple of gigs and loads of playing at home and I love it more than is probably normal or heathy.

There's not one thing I would change tone wise but the thing that knocks me out is the feel when soloing, anyway, before I start gushing, I am seriously considering getting a 20th Shiva (KT88) to replace my Cornford MK50 which my XTC has runied for me.

I know the Shiva is more aggressive but does it have the same liquidy feel when soloing. Also, I can't afford new cabs at the moment, would it work with a V30 / G12H mix

I had a 20th Shiva, but sold it recently. The feel is closer to a JCM800 than the XTC I'd say. It's a more focused sounding amp with a tight bass response and a midrange that has a more narrow Q. Those speakers worked well with it, too btw.

I hear ya about the 20thX man... I too am f*ckin' in :inlove: :inlove: LOVE :inlove: :inlove: with this amp. The only reason I was and am looking at the 20thS is because if it's anything like the X, I want both

But ya, the 20th EL34 XTC is 100% off the hook. By far a masterpiece in the world of amps. I think from what I've gathered the Sheevs is just more nasty and a bit more aggressive, differently voiced, but doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the X offers. Whatever.

Cheers,
Mo

I prefer the 20th Shiva, it's closer to a 100B. It's more classic and aggressive sounding. The downside for me is lack of channels.

That's the part I prefer.

Agreed.

I think the 20th Shiva is the best amp Bogner has ever made.

20th Shiva is the best amp Bogner has ever made! I have played the 20th XTC but I much prefer two channel amps. My favorite amp configuration is two channel, with a toggle or switch to change the gain structure like on my Shiva and PWE Event Horizon, and a built in solo boost. I have to be inspired as well and to me the Shiva is more inspiring to play lead with that focused mids compared to the 20th XTC.
