3 Mile Stone Release Featured Today on CD Baby, Gig Alert!!

3 Mile Stone

New member
We'll be doing our CD release party here in our home town, New Braunfels, Texas @ Billy's Ice House, Sat, Feb 21.

Check it out, the new CD is featured today on CD Baby. It sounds a little weird on thier web page, just went up yesterday, so I don't know what's up with that, crappy internet samples bandwidth issue probably. The CD sounds great when you kick it in your car or at home. Feels great to have this done. Buy one, you will not regret it if you dig Texas Rock N Roll.

Listening on myspace....sounds good! Catchy tunes, nice thick tone, real good playing. I'm digging it. Has some ABB flavor but crunchier. Nice!

Yea we were thinking Allman Brothers (I grew up in Georgia, so it's hard not to play that way). I am definately in the southern camp with the style. Warren Haynes, Derrick Trucks, ABB, Doyle Bramhal II, Charlie Sexton. David Grisom and Holt. We were trying to fill that missing slot that there seems to be now that Storyville and Arc Angels don't make new records any more.

Thanks.

Cool, you probably have better speakers at home any way so crank it up!!!

I'll post an update on all the modules and guitars and pedals used in the process after the gig Saturday when I have some time to breath. We've been working the drummer in all week, every night. Chris Dodds from Two Tons of Steel, a very popular Texas Rock a Billy - Honky Tonk styled band.

So do you guys hire out a drummer? From your website / myspace page I don't see a drummer listed.

Eric

We didn't so much hire him as we just convinced him it would be fun. Chris is a pro drummer, but we are freinds so he helped us out. We did pay him a marginal fee for his efforts in the studio. The original drummer, Rusty, who is credited for three songs on the CD played all of the original tracks until the now infamous computer crash where we lost 9 of the 12 recordings, hence the two years to complete. Rusty didn't have it in him to do it over, he's not real fond of the studio environment and had another live comittment as well. Chris will play our CD release party this Saturday and he is an honorary member, meaning, any time he wants it or has time he's it. We have another drummer (finally) lined up for more regular gigging in the future, which makes me happy because it has been one year since I fired up the MOD 50 live and let unleash it's raging gobs of thick and juicy harmonic goodness.

LOL That's damn funny man. You just want to show all those kitten daughter's you little "java beans" :).

Thanks John,

I PMed you.

By the way everybody, in general I'm on the right with Eganter MOD 50, Bassman, SL, EG3/4 and EG3 modules. Effects were Vox Tone Lab LE in the loop for delays, pedals were the Xotic BB of course, a little AC too, Fulltone Fat Boost, Barber LTD SR, old Pearl Chorus for the wobbly rotating sounds. Speakers were Mojo 2X12 with Celestion G12-65, Eminence GB12. I played my PRS CE24 on most tracks, my Les Paul Standard "59 and my Strat which went through multiple configurations over the two years of recording. Various Fender and Rio Grande pups.
If a lead track comes out of the right and moves to center it's me, if it comes from the left that's Rene. Rtm guitars are generally left and right as well, although I am on multiple tracks that are occasionally spread a bit in the mix. The instrumental track called Counting the Days is all me. Rene's rig was a H&K Switchblade into a Boogie Recto 2X12 with V30's. He plays an EJ Strat.

Tommy i had a chance to listen this morning and youve got some great stuff there! I really like all of them but Time Rolls On and Tres Dedos are my favorites (though i dont need 3 fingers of tequila since i had about 12 fingers of it last night!)

Awesome tones on there as well and great, great playing. Very nice lead work in Time Rolls On.

I really dug it and wish you guys lots of luck with it. How was the release party show last night? Are you on iTunes?

Many thanks my friend. So happens I wrote both of those tunes, big fun guitar riffs for sure. Tequila, we've all been there!!!

Last night's show was just about as good as a show can be with a few "fun" surprises. Got set up okay, but as we were moving in our gear I ripped my finger nail about half off on my right hand, bird/middle finger. Now understand I play a lot of stuff with that finger and it is an integral part of my claw style picking technique. Went home to bandage up. Came back and dropped my Strat face first from a full standing position, KERANG!!!!!! Then in the parking lot I busted my shin on a trailer hitch some bubba had sticking out the back of his receiver hitch on his manly pickem up truck. Some where towards the end of our set I inadvertently stepped on the up and down buttons on my midi pedal and changed midi channels. Played two or three songs with EG4 channel RAGING away before I figured that out. :D On the other hand we played really well, the crowd loved the show, well both shows as we backed Tom Gillam as his band for the second set too. We sold a ton of t-shirts, about $500 worth of CD's. We also saw just about everybody we've ever known over the last 20 years of gigging in south central Texas, they really turned out for us and we gave a good nights entertainment. The place was so packed it went out of the club & into the huge covered open deck off the rear and spilled over into the parking lot. Shit loads of people!!! Very, very cool.

The CD is of course available off CD Baby, for $10. Rhapsody and iTunes are coming. I was told that iTunes takes a little while to get it up and available, so it should be there soon. I'll update when that happens.
