I particularly liked these two....

24. Courtney Love on Dave Grohl
“As for that drummer, well, he’s hit on me so many times. He’s just a very very conflicted guy about me, which is why he continually writes songs about me to hear he ‘hates’ me more than ‘anyone else.’ Kurt loathed HIM more than anyone else (except a journalist) … He’s just sub-mediocre kind of [guy] who does this ‘nice guy’ nonsense.”

23. Dave Grohl on Courtney Love
“She’s an ugly fucking bitch.”

Wow, I'm not a clapton fan at all but yikes...that was a great read, thanks for sharing!

I'd pay good money for a Grohl vs. Love cage match (you can't say men shouldn't hit women, cause she's not a woman)

2. Anton Newcombe on Eric Clapton
“People talk about Eric Clapton. What has he ever done except throw his baby off a fuckin’ ledge and write a song about it?”

What a jerk off comment. I am not a Clapton fan...but I know who he is.
I googled Anton Newcombe....read up on him. Still have no idea who he is. :dunno:

Maybe he should throw his kid off a roof and write a song about it. :poke:

14. Noel Gallagher on Jack White

“He looks like Zorro on doughnuts.”

:hys:

Egh, they should dig up the stuff Yngwie used to say about everyone when he was younger. And the assholes from Blind Melon had a lot of venom in them about Dream Theater, Satch, and a few others.

Hot damn that's a good find!

I can't get my head around Kanye West criticizing ANYONE's attitude... how does that work?

#7 is spot on.

#17 and #19 just shattered the irony meter.

Courtney named her band perfectly, "HOLE" because that is all she is. Man all those people are bitter. I say fuck them all. Obviously fame and brilliance don't always go together.

I don't agree that GNR were talentless, but Cobain certainly wasn't

Seeing/hearing talented musicians bash each other is not my thing. I'd rather hear relentless Bieber (and co.) bashing

I didn't even know who have those people were

Worse than a reality show.

I kind of dug some of Yngwie's insults back in the day. At least he had the talent to back them. No one gave a damn about anything the nozzles from Blind Melon had to say back then, and even less so now.

Some good stuff in there.

I particularly liked 6, 7, 12, 14, 16, 18, 26, 28, and 29.

Actually glad these people had the balls to utter their REAL thoughts. :D

Lol really curious as to what they could have possibly said.

I don't remember specifically what they said, I just remember them opening their pie-holes in the 90s and me thinking I'd like to stuff my fist in their pie-holes. They were spouting-off from day one. And why... because they had the distinction of being in Blind frigging Melon???

Here you go.

"Guitar for the Practicing Musician" - January 1994

"Pull Me Under"
Images And Words
Dream Theater (ATCO/East-West)

Christopher: This could be metal at any moment--I'm just warning everybody.

Rogers: Either that or it could build up into a power ballad.

C: I feel like we might have to excuse ourselves here for a second. We might have to leave.

R: This is one of those guitar sounds that when he hits a note, about a million lights jump up on his guitar rig.

C: Any minute now there is gonna be a squealy.

R: Is this, like, Queensryche?

C: If it is, let's turn it off right away because I hate that band.

R: Hate it. This is the kind of music you listen to right when you start to get your pubic hairs.

C: I can't even be fair to this music, I hate it so bad. I can't even sit through one song. I know I'm not being fair but I think it is complete garbage. That sort of guitar playing is just stupid.

R: If I want to hear a metal band I really like old Black Sabbath and Soundgarden, heavy bands with brains. If I were listening to an angry metal band I would be more into Rage Against the Machine or Sugar. I like that Sugar record a lot, I like Sonic Youth a lot. That's heavy, guitar based music that I listen to.

C: Playing fast for the sake of fast is hideous. I hate that whole mentality of sitting around playing scales and cock-rock crap.

R: I heard some squealies. I don't really like that sound either. I'm not into those guitar sounds. When I hear that stuff I get feeling squeamish.

Guitar: That was Dream Theater.

C: We'll remember not to buy that record. I bet they have really nice hair... now I'm being mean.

R: This is just our opinion. There's a lot of people that like Dream Theater and that's fine. They get off on it--good for them. They'll probably hate us, maybe they won't.

C: They probably do because we sound like we're playing sloppy. But that's alright, that's a different thing. We're just coming from a different space.

R: In no way do we condemn this sort of music. These people have a right to exist.

C: Just keep it the hell away from us.

I don't see any problem with them not liking Dream Theater, and they made it clear it was only their opinion. Keep in mind those prints were verbatim of "off the record" type of interviews, where it's much easier to bitch about stuff.

hell, the guys in Blind Melon even bitched about Nuno Bettencourt...they couldnt even remember his name and kept saying "Udo"...and personally, i like a few of their songs, but if i EVER hear No Rain again ill kill someone. i hate that damn song, and that damn girl in the bee costume.

i think they were from Mississippi too? theres a lot of those breed down here, except they dont say "this is all my opinion". they actually believe they are the best thing since sliced bread and 99% of the time they suck. cant play, cant tune, cant write a song worth a damn. oh well...

thats a funny list though.

Yeah, I definitely remember their douche-holes making those comments. It's funny, because Petrucci is still around -- being AWESOME. And I am assuming that the guys from BM are cleaning-out septic tanks somewhere, or just lying in a pile of of their own matted-hair and vomit on a sidewalk somewhere.

Don't remember them targeting Nuno, but that figures. These guys seemed to take shots at the giants who they could never even hope to become worthy of changing their strings, much less being considered a peer in the world of guitar. That was pretty common with the whole backlash of the 80s by the 90s upstarts.

At any rate, I'd rather listen to a great song than a great guitar player any more. But it just doesn't sit well with me that these pedestrian (at best!) musicians were taking such candid shots at true giants. Crap... Hammett was around back then, why didn't they settle for slagging him like everyone else???
