4CM when using a RM4 along with a RM50 as the power amp?

I can't seem to find anyone to trade a RM100 head for one of my RM50 combo's so I am looking to run a RM4 for the four module slots along with my RM50's power section. Will I be able to use the 4CM with this set up?

yeah you can do that.

Guitar -> input of RM4 -> output RM4 -> Series FX loop return of RM50

Insert your effects between the output of RM4 / Series FX Loop return.

If you wanted to get a loop switcher, you could use all 6 module slots :)

I will need to work on that. I am using a RP1000 with my RM50 now so that I can drop the drives out front of the pre and the delays in the loop. I also have it set up so that I can bypass the pre in the RM altogether when wanted and then use the modeled pres in the RP. I won't be able to do that with the setup you rec'd.

I am thinking that if I hook up the RM4 into the RM50 power section I should be able to treat it like a 4 slotted RM50 and run the cables the same way I am now. Hmmm. Something to play with I guess if the deal I have going on works out.

You can still do a 4CM on effects w/ the RM4 / series effects loop. The RM50 basically becomes a power amp only, and the setup is the exact same as you would setup a RT2/50.

Guitar -> Pedals -> Pre preamp effects -> RM4 -> post preamp effects -> power amp

If you wanted to do a looper do:

Guitar -> pedals -> input of the loop switcher -> loop 1 (RM50 modules -> loop 2 (rm4 modules -> output of loop switcher -> post preamp effects -> power amp

I like the looper idea. After some gear swapping that I have going on right now I will be down to 4 modules but like the idea of having spots for two more!
