Hey guys,

I recently bought the Metro Plexi kit and am building a 50 watter. It's almost complete!! It will be the 1986 Bass circuit. It's a bit smoother than the 1987 from what I understand.

I must say, the build has gone quite smoothly. I made sure I was prepared with all the tools I needed and asked any necessary questions beforehand on the forum. I say, if you have patience and can solder pretty well, it's a great project. She's almost complete. I'm hoping it will fire up without a hitch!

Pics below and clips to come!!

How are the neew instructions? The old kits were pretty rough IMHO.

Let's hope so brother!!

She SHOULD fire right up...But ya know, one iffy solder joint and I might be fucked.

I'm pretty sure everything is sufficient though.

Crossing my fingers! All I need is some Scumback greenbacks and I'll be pretty satisfied with my amps. Thanks for checking it out.

They were great man!!

The 50 watt kits are pretty new, so they are very much recent and updated. There were a couple typos, but nothing detrimental to the amp, and nothing that some common sense would be able to remedy. Also, they are quite talked about on the forum as well. Also, the 100 watt instructions were just revamped and look GREAT.

The only confusing part that I needed assistance on was the transformer wiring since I went with Mercury Magnetics as opposed to the Metro trannies. Other than that everything was cool. The majority of the work was done in 3-4 sittings. I can see future builds going much smoother since I've gotten use to soldering certain parts.

Dude - Have you seen the new docs on the 100W kit? 78 pages long - practically step by step. Very detailed with alot of pictures.

That's awesome!! I had one of the very first kits and the instructions were extremely tough IMHO. I showed them to my amp Tech and he told me that the instructions could use a lot of revamping. That said, Im glad that George has done that!! He and his products Rock!!!

Congrats man!!

Coming along great, Joe! Nice job! I'm going to the Egnater Amp Seminar May 24/25 and then I'm getting started on a modded 100W Plexi build...

4 pages. Hey - my 100W Ceriatone kit came with NO instructions at all! Those 4 pages should've been fine!

Hahaha...

Yeah I saw the old ones, but the new ones are MUCH better. A Metro forum member revamped the 100 watts. They look great. I want to build a 100w Superbass next.

Thanks for the kind words! I'd love to do the Egnater seminar amp. It seems like a great high gainer. Good luck with it.

I am conquering this amp modding shit by the end of summer if I have to burn all my fucking fingers off to do it!@

This was my first build. I've only soldered guitar pickups before. It's really not difficult, you just need to be prepared and have the right tools.

Go for it!

Looks great. Any gain mods?

Thanks Dave. Not at the moment. I want to get everything sorted out with voltage and make sure it's working properly first. Then I'll probably add the master volume, since I have the parts necessary for that already.

I might keep this one somewhat stock. I'm not really going for a gainy amp with this one. But who knows, maybe down the road I'll look into it.

I want to but I have no idea where to start. It was working until that cap blew. Anyone have suggestions on what to do with this thing?

It looks dangerous. Complete rebuild would be my suggestion.

Which is exactly what I would like to do. My initial thought is that I need to identify what the transformers are, 50 or 100 watt, so that I know where to go after that. Problem is there are no markings on them and im not sure of a way to do this, not sure that it can be done... Or is that not important?
