Diezelheads...

Specifically, VH4 users - who's using what for 6550's and what are your fave manufacturers? I popped a valve last night, seems to still be working after I replaced the fuse, but whatever, thought if one goes, maybe it's time to get a new quad.

Oddly enough, it happened while setting up my Columbus and Send2/MIDI patching for a stomp box board. Went from Standby to Run and BOOF :dunno: ... Tube fault indicator LED was on :aww: . Swapped the fuse, seems okay, but the tube's not "as blue" as the others (certainly blue though), and there's more humming/hissing.

Peter's on it. New trimmer and tube, but since I'm on the verge of a tube fix, might as well explore what's happening out there.

Thanks All :2thumbsup: ,
V.

I've heard good things about the reliability of SED =C= 6550s.
I can't vouch for that, but I know that they do sound pretty good.

I have SED =C= 6550s in my Herbert. If you want to use 6550s, these are very good tubes

i have SED Winged Cs in both my Herbert & VH4. Zero issues & sound great!!! :D

In typical Diezel form, Peter was on this like a hen on a junebug - got a matched tube coming along with a replacement trimmer. I'll be sticking with the stock Winged C 6550's - I've been loving the sound and power from them, I was just wondering, in the event that I needed a new matched quad, if other brands would have been advised.

I'm stoked with the tone of the Winged C's, and hell, am totally blown away with the promptness and professionalism of Mr. Peter D in sorting this out ASAP. This was a bitch to go through (a mysterious pop for no reason, low volume, programming a Columbus), and always scary when my new VH4S has an "issue"; and worse is not playing it in the interim - but hey, NO COMPLAINTS how it's been dealt with.

Many Thanks to Peter & Peter and the Diezel Family,
V.
