I have an Ashen Miley bass amp being made and it uses 6N6P for power tubes and 6N2P for the preamp. Not knowing much about these tubes, naturally I did some research.

I read that in certain applications a 6N2P could be used as an alternative to a 12AX7. It runs on only 6.3 volts and since the pin config. is slightly different it would require a minor rewire of the tube socket or an adapter. I wouldn't mind giving it a try on my N5X Class A amp since it seems to be responsive to tube changes. I did find this comparison video below. To my ears the 6N2P sound less brittle/warmer than the 12AX7. Wondering if anyone here has had first hand experience with this tube?

I know nothing about the subject matter but I always wondered why amp makers never used alternative tubes….like DAR…he used those gigantic fuckin tubes in his amps and they looked cool as shit. I assume they sounded good. Maybe Martin will chime in…I think he owns a couple…

I know the military version of the Chinese 8th/9th gen 12ax7s are 6n4. Not sure if the 6n2 are equal? I'd email a tube guy/company and see what they say.
