Hi Guys,

Noob here, but this looks like a great forum!!

Thought I might post this.
All the dials are set to 5, using the bridge of a '06 Les Paul standard, close miked with a SM57.
I've chosen to dial everything at 5 so I can compare different speakers, amps, guitars etc., in "as similar as possible" recording enironments.
My plan is to build up a library of similar clips as a reference. I'll be looking at different preamp valves, power valves combinations, different amps, speakers, guitars, pedals etc etc. all recorded in the same room, with the same equipment will all dials set in the centre position (except for guitars, which will have all controls @ 10).

Anyway here goes, and looking forward to hanging out here.

Very cool idea with building up a library of tones to compare. I like the V30 on these clips! More punchy and forward sounding, total ACDC.

Welcome to the forum .... ;)

I liked the V clip better also myself.

amazingly enough i have to say I liked the v30 clip better here. Nice!

Thanks for the comments guys.

I spent a good deal of time breaking in the V30, they didn't sound quite as smooth at the start. After a week I was gunna put it on eBay, glad I didn't now!!

Both speakers are loaded in a closed back 2 X 12 and compliment each other real well.

More clips will follow as soon as I get my recording rig up and running efficiently, I'm currently dealing with the dreaded error 6086s with ProTools...story for another day.....

Cool clips  The v30 is better for me, it is my favourite speaker that ive used so far...

Nice demonstration is the G12H the anniversary model?

Nope, it's the bog standard one.

I'm a bit suprised at the reaction to the V30, I figured most people wouldn't like it.
My preference is to have a V30 around for heavy gain stuff, as it seems to stay more articulate to me, compared to say a greeny, especially for palm muted "chugging" type stuff.

This amp is getting treated to a long overdue cap job but I'll back with more speaker tests soon.

Nice! Just found this thread. I like the openess of the v30's but the G12H is fatter on the lead you do at the end. More ACDC to me then the 30's especially.

Thanks so much for demo ing the 2 speakers. Great comparison! I'm really starting to dig the V30's. I wish someone would do a demo of the V30's compared to some Alnico's?

For a quick comparison I can recommend THIS SITE - some Alnicos as well...

Right on thanks brotha. From this site's demos I really like the Weber speakers!
