This always messes with me...is it safe to run an 8 ohm hotplate to a 16 ohm cab? Ive read that it's safe to go one up or down with it and not stress the amp....

Part 2
I want to run the hotplate set to load simply as a line out to feed a stereo power amp and another set of effected cabinets. I dont want to attenuate the head at all as I prefer the sound straight into the cab...here is where Im confused....If I run one speaker out directly to a cab(16ohm) and the other speaker out to the hotplate simply for the line out feature, where does that leave me for the ohms setting on the head....Im thinking I should match the head to the cab it's feeding directly...but again..not sure...

I do have a UA as well with the Line out that I use for my Marshall rig...but Id rather not add that to my already heavy as hell rack...

Part 1
Using just the 8Ohm hotplate in line with the 16Ohm cab..set your head to 8Ohms

Part 2
It leaves you with a non-optimal load of 16/3 or 5.3 Ohms..since loads are in parallel. It's been said that you could set your head to 4Ohms and this would be 'safe'

Run the Hot Plate in line, since you just use it as a line-out box leave it a 0 dB and the amp will see the 8 ohm cab as 8 ohm.

Cool...thanks for replying. BTW Ed, your playing FREAKS ME OUT!
