Found this a few minutes from my house yesterday. Brought her home:

That last vid boosted sounds amazing. They’re so hard to come buy - great that you found it local! It was meant to be!

Sounds great Bobby! Nice job. The F and earlier Rectos are fantastic amps. G Triples too...not as much a fan of the G Duals. For whatever reason.

Not gonna lie, this amp isn't some jack of all trades like the Mark V 25.
You dial it in to it's happy place, and it stays there. And it's better than anything else out there for that sound.
Nothing, I mean not a damn thing, will do what this amp does in it's zen spot.
I'm so on the fence. I figured I'd fast flip it. But every time I plug in, it's a riff machine.

The orange ch on early Recto’s is one of my all time favorite high gain sounds. Nothing else gets the same throaty low mid growl on powerchords. I’d actually argue it can be deceptively versatile in that it can work for so many styles of rock, metal and even some bluesy stuff partly from how receptive they are to boosting

Yeah, without a lot of time on it, I landed on Orange channel in Modern mode.
The sound and response, the stuff it brings out when you play, super inspirational. It accents certain sounds, and brings out something different than any other amp. Love it.

That’s what I use too. I wish it was just a single ch orange mode lol. I used to mistakenly think I wasn’t a recto guy because somehow I used to only know about the red ch, but then I revisited with a Rev F Triple I got in 2020, later a Rev D and finally a Rev C. Kept getting better. They’ve been among my favorite amps since

Nice. Let me know how much you want for it when you go to sell it. I'm not a huge fan of the rectifiers, but I like how tight and bright/cutting the rev F is.

Wonder if that parallel effects loop killed the sound on the Rev G Duals?
That said, back in the early 2000s, here in DFW, I saw plenty of Rev Gs and 5150s sound splendid on stage.
Only failure I saw was a Bogner. Killer lead player had his super expensive amp die mid set, and had to borrow a Dual Rec, that sounded better, imo. He was pissssed.
I witnessed that before I knew much about gear. Years later, I got into the "special" amps and pedals. I really got into the Bogners. Should've remembered. Many Bogners I had needed some kind of repair.
Fan boys get upset when I say that, so here's a list, so you don't think I making it up. All but one bought used, so there's that:
Shiva 1x12 combo, rattle at moderate + volume. Wasn't tubes, something in the build that was difficult to detect. Made it difficult to sell.
Shiva head, weird distortion at loud volumes, was a cold solder that separated with vibration. EZ fix. That particular amp was one of my favs, tightest Shiva, while retaining the woody/juicy vibe. Wish I kept it.
Goldfinger 45, footswitch was glitchy/possessed.
Goldfinger 90, reverb was shot, had a resistor loose in chassis. Fixed, but the reverb never sounded as deep as the 45.
Shiva 20th Anniversary, super noisy gain channel. Flipped it after hearing a Bogner Red pedal thru a Germino Club 40. So wish I still had that Club 40. What a beautiful amp.
Bought new from Sweetwater: Helios 100. Transformer hum, so loud even in standby, that you knew something was wrong. Came thru the speakers loud when stdby was switched to play.
Sweetwater rep actually pushed back when I emailed to return. First and only time had that happen. A quick video uploaded to YouTube of the Helios making all kinds of noise on top of a rather quiet Shiva convinced him to take it back for a full refund.
I have had several other Bogners with no issues: Mojado, 3534 x2, Helios 50, Shiva green back EL34, 20th Anni XTC EL34...
Don't know how I got on that subject. Guess I'm still amped after seeing STP.
All that said, I'd take a Rev F Dual over any Bogner I've owned, which is a lot.
Oh, and I played one of those Blue Board Bogner modded Marshalls that was supposed to be the same as the Snorkler amp used on AIC Facelift. I was there to buy it, just knew I was gonna get it. Declined the purchase after playing it. It was gainy, with a bit more low mids, while retaining all the Marshall punch. But that was it. That's all it did: at the cost of more open, lighter crunchy sounds and dynamics, while adding a good dose of noise. Nothing you can't get with the right pedal in front. Kind of like that Hot Mod 2, not worth the trade off, imo.
Wow. That's honestly a brand that I hadn't heard much in the failure/repair category. I do think I remember the initial Helios issues though. I also remember some Splawns that came from the bench with issues, and when anyone brought that up the Splawn Police would show up here and defend, defend, defend...lol. Turns out Scott had someone other than him doing the solder work.
I hate amp regrets...luckily I've had the opportunity to make up for some stupid sell offs with more recent discoveries. I had an 82 2204 that I got for 799...GC...it had a slight gain mod, and a tube FX loop. But whoever did that mod knew what they were doing. That amp was an absolute BEAST with a slight boost in front. Sold it for another SLO. Bad move. Recently got a Caswell 2204 that almost reacts identically to that 'mystery mod' 2204 I had.

I don’t have mine anymore, so no skin in the game, but no stock Marshall boosted could achieve what I got out of the blue board Bogner mod I had and I also still have a Soldano Hot Mod and had the legendary tone version (didn’t sound as good fwiw). The real key with that amp I found was to scoop out the mids a lot, even all the way off sometimes. Otherwise it was too bloated and loose, but that made a night and day difference and made it almost like a mix of an Uber and JCM800. Bogner EQ’s can be very weird. It had the signature chewy low mid Bogner quality and a bigger low end than what the stock amp could achieve even boosted. I thought it was one of the better modded Marshall’s I had. I’d take it over most Cameron mods I’ve had and certainly a more unique sound than just another Jose sounding mod like those. I have now a ‘90’s Bogner Caveman I just got that sounds awesome. Like a better, more organic, shiva, maybe some xtc, but less gain and much better clean ch
