If you can stomach these I made a few more quick vids of my Mockingbird Archtop Supreme Neal refurbed for me. This were recorded at very low volumes as my 6 month old was sleeping across the hall. Lots of mistakes in these so don't expect to much. Same old set up... Mockingbird into a Keeley SD-1 into a Marshall Vintage Modern halfstack with a Rocktron Intellifex in the loop.

What did Neal do on the guitar ? I remember it was very nice... Was it damaged somehow ? Why did it need refurbishing ?

replained the fretboard, refret, and refinish as the old poly was bubbeling

The poly finish was bubbling ?? Strange !! Mine is from 96 and the finish is almost like new (that is where I didn't ding it of course !!). Clips were cool but sound was too low... the acoustic strings tone is almost masking the distorted tone... Cool playing on Miracle Man !!

Thanks man. Like I said my daughter was sleeping across the hall so....

Great clips (again)!

BTW, how comfortable is the body style on the Mockingbird?

Mine is kinda heavy but I love the guitar. For me it is very comfortable.

Yeah mine is heavy too but the tone... Wow ! Cannot find another guitar that sounds like it. Any Les Paul I've tried so far sounds wimpy by comparison. Got a large leather strap but I cannot play a whole 3 hours rehearsal with it or my left clavicle may fall off !! I wish I could find the same tone (and shape) with 2/3 lbs less. I know it exists because I tried one once in a small shop in NYC (Lancaster LMusic or something like that)... Also tried a very cool and very light 76 Eagle at Mandolin Brothers during the same trip. Didn't have the dough at the time to buy either of them on the spot

I love that Mockingbird...kickass guitar.

I bought a couple import mocks (special x & ST) and really like them after swapping pickups around. The body for me isnt hard to play around. The special X is 22 frets conf like a LP and it can get tight in the 22 fret area. The ST is 24 frets and no problems. They both are neck heavy tho

I can't say mine nose dives. I can let go of the neck and it doesn't go anywhere. Maybe it's because of my leather strap. I really don't think it's neck heavy, just a little heavy in general. But oh the tone and sustain!!!
