A random Dokken video from 1986 and my concert banner

Back in 1886 I had tickets to see Dokken in Detroit. Me and a high school buddy thought it would be fun to make a banner to bring to the show. Our seats were dead center about 10 rows back. Anyway we worked on the banner for a few weeks and made it look like the GHS guitar strings logo with the explosion. Anyway, nearly 40 years later a buddy sends me this video and I got to relive the moment. At the end of the show Don Dokken asks for the banner to be thrown on stage. Go to min 52 in the video. For me, this was the birth of "everything is on video".

That’s awesome! But kind of sad also. Time sure flies by fast doesn’t it? But a great memory captured!

ULAK and BFTA tours these guys were on fire. Lynch actually tried to stick to the actual solo's as much as possible. Even with this vid he had great tone. GL was the shit for me back then, I can barely listen to him anymore, especially live. Just noodling. I saw Dokken a few times back on these tours and IMO they were the best of the LA Bands live. Ratt was always a trainwreck live the times I saw them and I never really cared for the Crue. Saw Rough Cutt live a couple times back then as well and they sounded fantastic.

Badass. We saw them the year before at the Joe opening for Dio on The Last In Line tour.

What an awesome memory!
Right! 40 years is a long time. The 40 prior to that show was the end of WWII.
I do that too. Compare the time frames. It's so damn hard to believe it goes so fast. More behind than ahead is a fucking sobering realization :aww:

I’m a big Ratt fan but I gotta agree on their live performances. There were a few times where they were pretty good but most of the time they were a train wreck, especially on the dancing undercover tour. Dokken were great all the times I’ve seen them , always as an opening act . Rough Cutt I saw them 3x in 1985 and they were really good . For as much crap as Mötley Crüe gets from the people watch their shows on YouTube I thought they were a blast in the 80s. I always had a great time at their shows.
