I'm not really a NGD type of person, but this one I'm really excited about. While searching for an ESP Horizon guitar I stumbled across this out of production ESP Horizon 5 string bass.

Alder Body
Maple neck, neck thru construction
Ebony Fretboard
EMG Pickups

LOVE THESE SPECS!!!!!

The seller was a guy from Canada, very weak feedback, but I decided to go for it. Looks like the strings on this thing haven't been changed for years. I just did a quick test on one of my older mixes & it sits SO much better than P bass, great definition on lower strings & neck thru construction gives it an amazing playability, like with all Horizons that I fell in love with. Can't wait for the new pack of strings.

I like that custom B string  That is a nice looking bass though.

See you got your Little Labs PCP sitting on the desk. Never leave home without mine in the rack  .

Steve,

Like I said before the PCP changes the tone a lot; the funny thing is that I ended up liking it, it became a part of my tone. It's also very cool for running vocals through amps.

I think it has to do with the impedance levels. When playing at decent levels, I don't really notice it. But, you ear is probably more tuned in that mine for that. The only thing I notice ever is the lack of feedback. Normally, walking up to the VH4 or Bogner, it is feedback on demand - not so easy through the Distro. For me though, I can run two or three high gain amps through it and they are deathly quite. No noise gate or anything needed. Cool piece of kit and I don't even use the other functions of it (DI, reamp, etc).

Glad you ended up liking it a little....

In the room I don't hear that much difference either, I do feel the altered frequency range though, which is possibly why you get less feedback, but when you put a mic in front of the speaker you hear some distinct vibe, which you can either love or hate. I ended up digging it. The only thing I wish it had & it doesn't is a level control for the DI. It's really cool that you can use different input simultaneously or record a few tracks & feed them to the amp like a single guitar. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
