I have never soldered before. Just went to radio shack and bought 30W solder gun and clear flux solder. First thing I need to know is if that solder type is suitable.

Also, do I need to desolder? All I was going to do was cut off the existing caps and then just solder to the old leads.

thanks,

brian

Don´t do it. Please call Your father or a tech.

Yeah, I just came to that conclusion as I read some tutorials. Didn't realize how many steps there are... I will definitely leave this to someone experienced!

Also, caps can store a charge and discharge (through you) when you touch them.

Bang!

Ouch.. :aww:

How is it possible that an Einstein needs new filter caps already?!
I have been using mine for over two years now and haven't needed to do one thing to it.
In fact, I have never had a single problem from any Diezel.
Wazzup wit dat!?

I don't know but I recorded an audio clkip of how my Einstein sounds and Peter suspects it is filter cap. Changing tubes did not have any effect. If it is filter cap, I am curious how something like that goes bad. I thought those usually last at least a decade!

2-3 decades normally, sometimes 4 or 5 - dpends how much u are using it, but you never know . . .
