Hey Guys,

I have an old acoustic thats been lying around my house for quite some time.. It was always here before i learned to play guitar (about 4 years ago).. it used to belong to my uncle (Who, sadly is no longer with us) and i believe it's from about 1980~.

It seems like a nice guitar, i've never really had a proper acoustic for myself.. And i'd like to get this into playing shape. The action on this thing is pretty bad. At the last fret, the string height is about 1cm (Just estimating here, i don't have a rule. Or the guitar with me), and it obcenly high at the 12th fret also.. it's almost unplayable. I'm not sure what might be causing this, the strings seem to be at a pretty decent height up at the lowerfrets (1-7) but there does look to be some warp in the neck, where it has bent until the 7th fret; where it's straightened out.

Could this be a cause of it? Should the string height on an acoustic be really high at the 22nd fret or so? The main question is though; Is it repairable? This guitar is one that i definately won't be throwing out very soon, if it's fire wood.. it'll have to stay an ornament. If it's anything... both the Nut, and Bridge (The white bar, that the strings sit on?) are whiter than the binding etc.. so they might have been replaced?

Any Help, as to the root of the problem, or any possible solutions wouldbe greately apprechaited. Should i just leave it into a tech (Overcharging!!)? and see what they can do?

I'll try and get some pics up before the weekends out.

Thanks
