Great show!

Just saw Slash & Myles in Cleveland on Sunday night. Sounded incredible!

Why Slash don't use his AFD sig amp?

yeah... wtf?? Nice pics, thanks so much for posting. I run the exact same eq settings on my wizard m/c as frank...kinda neat coincidence... wonder why slash just doesn't use a wizard m/c and be done with it.

the volumes were set loud too!

Caught Aerosmith at Rock Fest in Wi on Sat. Awesome..just as good as the show in 2002 I caught in Chicago...

I fully expected Slash to revert to the JCM800s but surprised he's not even staging the AFD100.

AFD :

A-solute

I bought and quickly sold one as it promised so much but delivered so little.

.....to hell with the amps, What was up with that 4x12 on fire?
Now that screams rock n roll

I heard the amp was plagued with problems due to the power scaling circuit... blown resistors etc... the amp was probably too unreliable for him.

On another note.. I would definitely buy one of those single humbucker les pauls with a Wilkinson trem!

Perry's Explorer-looking axe with the hollow gaps in it in that first pic looks like the one from the Walk This Way vid w/ Run DMC.

...took a big CHANCE / at the high school DANCE...

Doesn't surprise me that SLASH is back to playing JCM800's (no doubt with the #34 changes made to the preamp) or using is Jubilee sig amps. The AFD sound was great for cutting in an album mix but live the sound of those amps are a little nasally and thin sounding. Listen to everyone's #36 Caswell/Levi mods on youtube.. when i did the 36/39 mod on my test 2204 circuit, i found it thin and very concentrated in the high end. I think he controls the cut the wants with that Dunlop cry baby fixed setting pedal, and more gain for leads through the clean boost. Marshalls have plenty of cut without squeezing more out of that circuit. Good for Marshall for selling a pile of amps that were quickly resold by the owners and continue to find new homes! Was cool to see a DD3 for his delay though. I like seeing these big shots going back to stripped down uncomplicated gear that just gets the work done.

Agree with above... I love the DD3 too. What are the #34 changes to the preamp? can you give a list?

I've seen a few diff versions but this is the jist of it: http://jvmforum.com/phpBB3/download/fil ... &mode=view . I tried the 34 as well and it sounded good but could still use a small boost which is probably why he used the EQ pedal for that. Sounds best when cranked as it fills out. Easily added to a stock amp and removed without too much consequence. As mentioned on the document, it was his UYI album tone and the jubilees are what he started touring with which then spawned his signature Jub amp. (the first one in the late 90's)The cool thing about the stock 800 is that you still have more tonal options if you are gigging and need a scorps tone one minute and then AC DC level cleaner gain the next. The 34 mod will probably affect your cleans somewhat.

I don't know what to tell ya! Works for me.. just google SLASH #34 schematic.. should get you a bunch of hits.

I heard somewhere before he was mixing stock 800s (with 6550s) with the AFD100. So I'm guessing those would be the same JCM 800s but who knows.
