I think I'm finally leaning toward the VH4. And I KNOW I to test drive them all, because that's the only REAL way to know which one your ear prefers. But So far, I though the Herbert was the one I wanted, but recently I've been diggin' the VH4 "tightness" a bit more.

I'm not a Metal player (even tho I DO play metal, A LOT) I only play it while I jam by myself, or maybe with a few friends, but the music I mostly play is Pop-rock with blues elements (I use the clean Channel a lot, a few OD pedals, some FX, and a good second channel for rock distortion)

The Einstein looks killer for what I need, but honestly, I want the MIDI capabilities of the Herbert/VH4, and I like the all-in-one type of amps, you know, A GREAT/AWESOME clean channel, blues/crunch ch., rythm ch. and lead. ch. all in there ready to rock!...... So I can have everything ready if I want to play my pop thing of jam on some hard rock/metal with a few friends, of a cover band.

you'll really like the second channel of the vh4. i won't even begin to describe what its capable of. its just awesome. like crystalline glass.

the herbert has the best cleans (1st channel) i've ever heard from a multi-channel amp. however, the vh4 has the second best cleans (1st channel) i've ever heard on a multi-channel amp ;)

i've recently done a shoot out with my vh4 and an herbert, and i decided to stick with my vh4. the herbert has a "saturation" associated with metal amps like the bogner uberschall, splawn nitro, etc. the vh4 is more of a distictively voiced TONE machine that delivers with almost any style of playing... and yes, its amazingly tight.

incidentally, check out this link to hear what we get from the 3rd channels on our vh4's. the first song (the great caldera) is 2 different vh4's split between the left and right channels. les paul supreme on one, flying v on the other. http://www.myspace.com/collapsar

its all about preference of course, but it sounds like you'll be very happy with the vh4.

The good thing about the amps for me is that I know what I need.
3 Diezels, 3 Bogners, JCM800, a couple of Dr. Zs & I'm set, but before the dream comes true (Let's see, never??  ) I'm very happy with what I have.

Now cabinets are a lot harder to choose from, variety of woods, speakers, sizes ..........

now that you mention speaker cabinets, what's the dif. between front loaded and rear loaded cabs?

Never tried one myself. I've heard opinions that it's more tight, focused & aggressive. Now we need to figure out what that means

Absolutely true. You should write a review :)
