Alder vs basswood vs Mahogany vs swamp ash

which would you take to
1) play a gig for a 80's shred concert
2) a dream theater cover band
3) a band with another guitar player and a loud drummer

There is no magic wood type IMO and it also depends on the type of guitar i.e. bolt-on, set-neck, neck-thru. So any of these woods will work. I prefer Alder over most body woods. It is something I prefer for bolt-ons, but basswood is good too as are the others.
