Has anyone asked if channel one of the TJ can be modded to XTC blue channel specs.......?
I have both and have looked inside the chassis. I would have to say it's not possible but I could be wong. The 20 Ecstacy has all Sozo caps and the circuit board is completely differnt than the Twin Jet.

Bump for Purple Mod info and comparison to stock. Mightwarlock, where are you

Stopped off at Reinhold's magic elf wherehouse today to drop off the amp he let me borrow.
They were very very busy packing up the truck with stuff and getting ready for NAMM.

You wanna know about the purple people eater?
IF the amp I was given was certainly the Purple Mod, (it was made special for a certain famous band), it was definitely different on ch.1 for sure.
It was much more open, much much louder (so much so, it was really intense), and had more bass and just more of everything.
Definitely very cool, and (if you have seen the latest video I posted in the clips section) it cuts very strongly. but then so does the regular TJ.

I probably going to get it done to mine, but I'm going to have mine customized even more, as I thought the bass huge, but not as tight as the stock one I have, which I consider pretty tight, actually, on the low end. At least I think so. so hard to tell...I played it at home through the Bogner Uberkab i just got, and also live in the studio through a V30 Marshall cab. (in the video). I'm still getting used to the cab, but it's really beefy sounding.

I'll deal with it, and talk with Mr. Bogner about it AFTER he is all done with Namm and such. It's a major thing for them right now, obviously. I talked to him very briefly, as he was very busy today.

whatever I get done tho...I'm going to see if we can call it the Evil Mod, since I want it to be much more EVIL! hehe...(it shouldn't take much...).

If your thinking of doing it, be prepared for more volume than is necessary for anyone. ever.
You WILL be asked to Turn It Down by your bandmates. I know I was. And my new method of dialing things in...except for gain, everything else pretty close to noon.
I'd say go for it. it definitely was more full and huge sounding. and louder.

Or wait. and See what Evil I can unleash! should be fun!

Very much appreciated. I wonder why it is so much louder. It's cool you are close to Bogner HQ.

Do you have any info on the mod? Sounds like the volume pot may have been changed to come on allot faster?

I have a brand new TJ (KT88) inbound from Rob at Tone Merchants. It has the Purple mod and Rob said "it makes channel one smoother and more hot rodded marshall sounding so theres a more dramatic difference between the voicing of channel 1 and 2". Do you guys agree?

I cant wait to get this head :D

Convert it to Gold Lion KT77's and you will be floored. Much better than the EL34's which are much better than the KT88's. The 77's really stay together and make the amp more of what it was intended. A beast  You need a special tested quad though. Noone seems to know how to match the KT77's. Not even New Sensor. KT77 tests call for 400 volts on the plates. They have to be tested as an EL34 at 500 volts or they will not match in your amp. I'm very picky about my matching and check it thoroughly. I have recently worked closely with a tube dealer to get it right. He is presenting all of his data to New Sensor. You wouldn't believe the differences he found.

Can you describe some of the differences between the 77's in the TJ compared to the 88's
