almost new amp day

took about 15 weeks. I am digging it a lot. I still need to find more time to experiment it. there is a lot of options. It's killed my G.A.S. for a Splawn and other Marshall type amps.
I’m dying for a Molecular 100, but the wait time sucks!!! He needs to hire more kids and turn them out quicker!

It did take a couple extra weeks than quoted. He usually delivers early. Hell I ordered a chassis and faceplates for a 2204 and got it quicker than my mojotone headshell which is in my same state. I'm going to breakdown and order a Centura. My favorite tones are usually a hot rodded Marshall with a klon on every modeler.

Thanks for the report, Clint, so glad that you like your new toy,
There’s nothing better than a new amplifier in the house??!
How would you compare the gain structure, eq the amplifier to the molecular? Is it pretty close? Would you say that the molecular is a little more raw and snarly vs the leviathan which is maybe a bit more hifi/polished?
Happy new year everyone!

thats a fair description if not spot on. You can get pretty much a lot of the same tones as the molecular since I guess they both share the jcm800 dna. I need to play around more with the presence/resonance/ and mid boost a bit more. I bet there is some snarl in there I just havent got it yet. But yeah its definitely a bit more polished but not overly polished(which is why I got rid of my JJ jr.) They did really good here imho.

Out of curiosity, what are the import fees like? I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2555. It is a helluva a deal, especially if I order it without the trannys then just mount and solder some quality ones myself when it gets here. But I don't want it to end up costing the same as a marshall if I do that.

there wasnt any import fees and honestly I would stick with the Ceriatone transformers. I have used Classictone and Ceriatone's transformers in builds and Ceriatone's are fine. I know they had a bad rep but they have either sorted out the issues or they had them redesigned. They basically over engineered them now. Nik had mentioned earlier iron getting hotter than the current versions.

here is a pic of the Gargoyle iron that Im using on Headfirst's Jose build.

Cool. I am excited about this. I emailed him to see if he would install a metro loop. I thought about getting the kit and doing it myself, but I have a tendancy to put things off. I think I may mod a 3way bright switch in there, though. Your build looks cool. Good luck and thanks for the advice on the transformers. I think I am still going to get it shipped without headshell or tubes, cuz I can always source my own tubes, and I am not that much of a fan of headshells. I would rather just have the chassis out so I could turn it over real quick if I need to.

I typically source my headshells and tubes over here as well. Nik will also let you split the order in payments as well which I always take advantage of.

Well, he has made me second guess myself a little. I talked about putting a buffered loop in it, and he said he wasn't sure how that would work. Aparently, the silver jubilee has a -10db loop. I don't know what would happen if you attempted to install a Metro in it, but I know that the way I hit the front end of an amp, a zuul not working in the effects loop is a no go for any type of real volume.
