Not my video... I found this video interesting. I've often wondered what makes the years 1978, 79 and 80 so good for Marshall amps?

This video is supposedly a raw mic'd SM57 with no EQ. I don't know if the amp is inernally jumpered but it almost looks like the amp is because he keeps turning up the Normal volume and it seems to affect the Bright volume channel alot. No info on what speakers..................:dunno:

Same dude did this cover tune..........................

Always a lovely sound.

However, I have never found a Marshall that could top my JTM45 :)

My third Marshall was this amp. It was obviously one loud amp. Eventually it was traded for a JCM 800 2203. Both though were basically backups to my JMP2204 which was just a sweet amp. It was loaded with 6550's. Clip sounds like a NMV Marshall to me.

Model 1959 JMP MK II.
Nope. Late 80's early 90's (y'know, when "Live" was recorded....)...

Oh, and the live version they put on the album was recorded NOT at Donington, but @ NEC, Birmingham and is soooo much more awesome!

That cracklin' electricity from the feedback at the starts, you just know those electrons are like "Boy, are we gonna punch some tubes in the mouth for that big A power chord!"

I’ll take this kid playing through a dumpster any day over that dudes cover of still loving you….justtttt sayin, carry on.

6550 vs El34? ... Or should I start thread? 🤔
Nowadays I lean 34's but back then those 6550's in that amp brought some thump. I honestly don't remember what was in the 59 mkII Superlead. I rarely played it but having two half stacks looked damn cool at the time lol. It was probably 6550's as well. I could be wrong but I think Marshall had changed something for American Distribution and was loading their amps with 6550's for awhile. Maybe an expert can chime in on that.

I bought both used at different times for $250 bucks at the legendary Rhythm City in Atlanta.

Let's all appreciate the fact that 13 years ago Charvel Dan was still using a CRT TV.......I wonder if he's since upgraded to one of those flat ones?

Back in the day I had a 78 2203 and 79 2204 and other guitarist had a (not sure on the year but around the same era) 1959 modded like a 2203…we all used 6550’s back then. I only used them for power amps. Nothing special amps, they worked, were cheap and about all there was besides Peaveys. We got decent tones out of them, but had to do alot to make them work how we wanted.
