Am I being ridiculous for considering a fourth Friedman amp?

What did you think of the Pink Taco V2 and JJ Jr?
The Little Sister is an amazing amp.
The Pink Taco V2 and JJ Jr. both have their things I like about each of them.
I initially said I liked the Pink Taco V2 the best, but if I had to keep one it would be the Little Sister, it has the best tone by far, just needs a boost to get it to the gain levels I like and it is a LARGE beast of a 1x12 combo amp.
I definitely think both amps were great and love Friedman amps. I thought they were great for recording, especially the JJ Jr. I did tons of recordings using just the XLR out and sounded killer every time.

I think they do a great job but ever so slightly, the EL84 tone misses just enough but I understand why Dave puts those in the smaller amps. I have enjoyed my Marshall Jubillee Mini with EL34s much more but isn't a metal amp like those are but I just use a boost.

The Friedman tone definitely is a modern, polished, sound. I love the Friedman tone but it has a more modern vibe than a Marshall. I think each amp caters to a different person and thr smaller amps are nice.

I'd say pick up the Marshall 50 or 100 of your choice and have it modded to JEL specs...........

Unless of course you want or need the features Dave has built into the JEL amps which are quite usable.

The JEL20 or 50 will have some of those upper frequencies that people often complain about that Friedman amps are missing. But even so, it still will have a "Friedman" quality to it that is not exactly Marshall. Slightly smoother and I notice when playing open chords that Friedmans seem to have amore compressed or balanced tone. My only complaint with Friedman amps is that the one I own doesn't have as much low end compared to other amps I've owned.

The Pink Taco and Little Sister have decent low ends.

I do like the features Dave puts in to the JELs and other amps.

The more I think about it...
I just was playing all 3 amps for a couple of hours.
I love my Pink Taco V2 Head and Cab and I love my Little Sister Combo.

The JJ Jr. combo I picked up as an impulse buy when I really wanted a JEL-20.
I am trying to make myself love the JJ Jr., but it is not the tone I am looking for.
I am sure it is the tone a lot of people would love, but it is not the tone I am looking for.
It is a more modern tone and I am more in to 80s-90s hard rock/hair band tones.

I will move on from the JJ Jr. and buy a JEL-20

The JEL-20 like the Pink Taco and Little Sister is the tone I am looking for.

I watched videos on the bigger Friedmans, Smallbox and BE100, and they are not doing anything for me that the JEL-20 isn't already doing except taking up more space, if they would fit on top of a 1x12 I might think about one, but they don't.

The Pink Taco and Little Sister have decent low ends.

I haven't tried, but everyone says the Twin Sister or Little Sister have great low end. Perhaps I'm just too used to other amps like the Mark series that have a lot of low end.

Mesas have great low end, I don't know how the Friedmans will compare.
I play mostly lead, so low end doesn't really matter to me as much.
I will admit, a big power chord out of a 4x12 will give me goosebumps.

You should definitely check out the Splawn QuickRod 100. I have tons of amps as you can see on my profile and I've had at least as many boutique amps before. I love Friedman amps, but once I got my Splawn it gets 95% of my time. Best Hot-rodded Marshall out there and extremely versatile.

As much as I'd like to agree with you, he seems pretty fixated on that Friedman tone. The Splawns don't have that compressed, easier to play, production sound like the Friedmans. Splawns are the opposite. Open, articulate, raw and punchy. And loud. It forces you to play better that is for sure.

I need something that hides my sloppy playing.
