Am I the only one who thinks Van Halen's Diver Down record is killer?

I LOVE Diver Down. I know Ed wasn't happy about doing so many covers, but damn, every track is pure fire, the band sounds raw AF, and Ed's guitar sounds are amazing. The VH original tunes on that album are fantastic.

I think it's one of their best albums.

This is one of my ‘time machine’ albums. I had just finished my freshman year of HS. Had my first ‘job’ and used the proceeds to by a no-name knockoff of the SONY Walkman (remember that???) and Diver Down on cassette. I wore that tape OUT that summer and every track immediately brings me back to that summer when I was 15.

The covers were a blast and the originals were SO F’n good. Killer - almost ‘naked’ guitar tone and uncluttered mix. You can just smell the hot tubes in that guitar sound.

I love DD. Might have my favourite Ed tones.

There was a stretch of time when Diver Down was my co-favorite (along with VH1) Van Halen album. I eventually wised up and Fair Warning overtook it, but I still love Diver Down. I think the band resented the album because they were supposed to get an extended break but we're pressured into doing a single (Pretty Woman). The success of the single led them to be pressured to get back in the studio and do another album.

Diver Down was the first album I ever bought on its release date . Took the bus after school to Warehouse Records . I like it a lot , brings back great memories . Saw the tour here in San Francisco, it would be my third Van Halen concert

We came to find out that there was plenty of original material leftover from the Warner Bros demos that could’ve been used to make it all originals if they and Ted T would’ve chose to. Supposedly Big Trouble was recorded again and intended for Diver Down then later 1984

YES!!! God where did the time go. I wouldn’t trade with any other generation for any reason. Cool cars, cool music, no internet, and all the girls dressed hot when we went out on the weekends!!!
Right on same here and totally agree. It was a blast
